FanDuel NHL: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

The main contests at FanDuel consist of the three evening games that begin with the Washington-Toronto tilt starting at 7 p.m. EDT. Here are a number of players to consider from the shallow player pool.

GOALIE

Braden Holtby, WAS vs. TOR ($9,300): With a healthy 32 fantasy points in Game 1, Holtby produced as expected. Toronto registered 37 shots Thursday but only 14 were high-danger chances, so there were plenty of easy saves. The netminder also turned away 24 of 24 shots after the mid-way point of the first period of the series opener.

CENTER

Ryan Getzlaf, ANA vs. CGY ($7,900): Calgary didn't have an answer for Getzlaf in the opener, and the veteran pivot is up to seven goals and 33 points over his past 23 games. During that stretch, the Anaheim captain also has 27 points through 15 home games. As the go-to pivot in all offensive situations, Getzlaf also boasts a high fantasy floor.

Nicklas Backstrom, WAS vs. TOR ($6,900): While held off the scoresheet in Game 1, Backstrom logged 20:37 with 3:20 on the power play and registered three shots. After posting 86 points and an elite 3.45 points per 60 minutes in the regular season, Backstrom is a strong lean for a bounce back in Game 2.

WING

Viktor Arvidsson, NAS at CHI ($6,500): After scoring the second-most goals (19) in the league after the All-Star break, Arvidsson notched the game-winning tally in Game 1. The high-volume shooter fired 10.71 shots per 60 minutes during the regular season and has established himself on the top line and No. 2 power-play unit.

Patrick Eaves, ANA vs. CGY ($5,300): With a power-play helper and 17:51 of ice time in the opening game of the series, Eaves improved to an impressive nine goals and 11 points over his past 12 games. His salary is still in profit territory, and he spent all of his five-on-five ice time with Ryan Getzlaf in Game 1, so the duo remains a solid stack.

Micheal Ferland, CGY at ANA ($3,600): A low-priced flier to open cap space, Ferland is skating on the No. 1 line with Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan. Ferland also fired seven shots on net in Game 1, and he had a solid showing in the playoffs in 2014-15 with three goals and five points through nine games. His rambunctious style clearly fits postseason play.

DEFENSE

Kevin Shattenkirk, WAS vs. TOR ($6,000): With a power-play assist and nine shots on goal, Shattenkirk was a force Thursday. He's also sporting an impressive 18-game run dating back to the regular season with 15 points and 50 shots. Toronto's penalty kill is struggling, and the power-play quarterback is worth a long look because his salary isn't prohibitive enough.

Shea Theodore, ANA vs. CGY ($3,500): The young defenseman has oodles of offensive upside, and he put it all on display in Game 1. Theodore was on the ice for all three Anaheim goals, put up two power-play assists and posted a 55.67 Corsi For percentage at five-on-five. He remains a strong value play at this price, and especially since he's locked into a key role with the No. 1 power-play unit.
