FanDuel NHL: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Saturday night is always the big night in the NHL and we have a packed slate. When you're building your lineups with high-priced studs like Connor McDavid, Patrick Kane, or others, consider these value options to roster around them.

Goalie

Thomas Greiss, NYI at SJ ($7,400): Greiss has the ability to be a very good goaltender in the NHL and we saw that in spurts last season. This matchup is a tough one, but San Jose has been struggling up to now by averaging just 2.33 goals per game. He's cheap and not many will select him, but Greiss could very well lead the Islanders to a victory on the road.

Center

Vincent Trocheck, FLA at PIT ($5,300): I wrote Trocheck up the other day and he rewarded nicely with a goal against the Lightning. The tally was his second in as many games while adding nine shots on goal and averaging over 23 minutes of ice time. The Penguins have given up the eight-most points to opposing centers, including four goals, eight assists, and 40 shots on goal.

Brayden Point, TBL vs STL ($4,900): After a red-hot three-game stretch to start the season, Point cooled off in his last outing by being held off the scoresheet. The Lightning second-line center has three goals and four assists, while the Blues have allowed the most fantasy points to centers with five goals, 13 assists, and 62 shots on goal against.

Wing

Clayton Keller, ARI vs BOS ($4,800): There are a few things working in Keller and the Coyotes' favor tonight and they include playing the struggling Bruins at home and facing their backup goaltender Anton Khudobin. Keller is coming off a two-goal game and has averaged close to four shots on goal skating on the team's top line and power-play unit.

Evgeny Dadonov, FLA at PIT ($4,200): Continuing the trend of picking on Pittsburgh's lack of defense, Dadonov is a young skater that has impressed early on. In three games, he has one goal and two assists to go along with eight shots on goal. He's skating on the Panthers' top trio with Aleksander Barkov and Jonathan Huberdeau and sees time on the first power-play unit. The Pens have allowed the most fantasy points to right wingers this season, making Dadonov a nice value.

Dustin Brown, LA vs BUF ($4,100): Brown has turned back the clock early on. In his last two matchups, he has three goals and two assists and has 13 shots on goal in three. He's seeing time on the first line with playmaker Anze Kopitar and is getting some minutes on the top power-play unit, so his $4,100 price tag looks like a steal.

Defense

Jacob Trouba, WPG vs CAR ($4,800): Trouba has assists in back-to-back outings in the absence of Dustin Byfuglien. It's unclear whether or not Byfuglien will be back in the lineup tomorrow, but nevertheless, Trouba is in a good spot at a nice salary at home and can be an offensive threat while adding a decent amount of blocked shots (nearly three per game).

Tyson Barrie, COL at DAL ($4,900): The Stars are clearly struggling against opposing defensemen, allowing the second-most fantasy points so far. Entering last night, Barrie had one goal and two assists, which are modest numbers, but he has averaged four shots on goal. There will be opportunities tonight for Barrie and, at this price, he's a nice bargain.
