DraftKings NHL: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Jake Allen, STL vs. CGY ($): The Flames enter on the wrong end of back-to-back road games after topping Nashville in a shootout Tuesday, and St. Louis has gone 26-12-5 at home dating back to last season. Additionally, Allen has always been better at Scottrade Center with a career 50-24-5 record, .917 save percentage and 2.19 GAA. The Blue have also allowed the second-fewest high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (9.2) at five-on-five this season.

CENTER

Nick Foligno, CLM vs. BUF ($6,600): It's been a nice start for the veteran, and he's also coming off his first multi-point showing of the campaign. Through his past four outings, Foligno has two goals, four points and 13 shots while averaging 18:26 of ice time with 3:15 on the power play. With Buffalo entering on the wrong end of back-to-back games, look for another solid showing from Foligno. Buffalo is allowing 11.8 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes at five-on-five, too.

Brayden Schenn, STL vs. CGY ($6,200): Shifted up to center Vladimir Tarasenko and Jaden Schwartz, Schenn checks out as a high-end option. The first-year Blue is off to a respectable start with two goals, seven points and 14 shots through nine games, but business is about to pick up for Schenn. Sharing the ice with Tarasenko and Schwartz in all situations is a cushy fantasy setup.

WING

Vladimir Tarasenko, STL vs. CGY ($8,200): Mr. Consistent has only missed the scoresheet twice through the first nine games of the season and has collected nine points -- five goals -- and 33 shots. He's locked into a go-to offensive role and averaging 19:37 of ice time per game, which includes 4:50 with the man advantage. As noted, it checks out as a solid matchup with Calgary on the second leg of a back-to-back road set.

Artemi Panarin, CLM vs. BUF ($7,800): With six points and 21 shots through his past five games, Panarin has found a groove with his new club of late. He's averaging 20:33 of ice time with 3:04 on the power play, and with Buffalo allowing plenty of high-danger scoring chances, it's a ripe matchup.

Sam Reinhart, BUF at CLM ($4,100): Gaining momentum of late with three points -- two goals -- and eight shots while averaging 16:54 of ice time (3:07 on the power play) through his past five games, Reinhart is value lean Wednesday. He's been slotting in up and down the lineup this season, though, so confirm Reinhart's line assignment before locking him into your lineup.

DEFENSE

Zach Werenski, CLM vs. BUF ($5,600): Recently labelled a rover my head coach John Tortorella, Werenski has shown no signs of a sophomore slump by exploding out of the gate. The defenseman has three goals, three assists and 22 shots through eight games, and he's locked into prime offensive situations. He projects as a solid stacking option playing on the No. 1 power-play unit with Nick Foligno and Artemi Panarin, too.

Vince Dunn, STL vs. CGY ($3,700): A low-priced flier with modest upside, Dunn projects to skate with the No. 2 power-play unit Wednesday. He posted an impressive 45 points as a rookie in the AHL last season, and the 20-year-old defenseman is currently beginning 57.7 percent of his five-on-five shifts in the offensive zone.
