FanDuel NHL: Wednesday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Wednesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Goalie

Cory Schneider, NJ at VAN ($8,400): Schneider gets a shot at his former team Wednesday and against a Vancouver team that averages just 2.82 goals per game, he is priced on the low side. He has five wins, and while he has given up at least four goals in three of his last four games, he was facing much more potent offenses including Ottawa, Tampa Bay, and Washington. On a night where there isn't much goalie value out there, Schneider sticks out as one to consider.

Center

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, EDM vs PIT ($4,900): Nugent-Hopkins is filling the second-line center spot nicely for the Oilers and is a nice value play as a pivot off Connor McDavid. He has two goals and one assist in his last two games and has seen a shade under 18 minutes of ice time in his last three contests. He sees time on the power play and should produce against the Penguins, who have allowed the third most fantasy points to opposing centers.

Joe Thornton, SJ vs NSH ($5,800): Thornton is a future Hall of Famer who is showing that he isn't quite ready to hang up his skates. He has two goals and six assists thus far, and while that production may be a far cry from what he did in his prime, he still sees big minutes on the top line and top power-play unit.

Wings

Patrick Maroon, EDM vs PIT ($6,600): As a value option on McDavid's line, Maroon has had a hot stick, scoring four goals in his last five games. He's seen over 17 minutes of ice time in every game and is poised to perform well against a leaky Penguins defense.

Conor Sheary, PIT at EDM ($5,100): Much like Maroon above, Sheary benefits from playing on a superstar's line next to Sidney Crosby. He has five goals, sees power play time, and is a nice value play to consider in a game that should see a good amount of scoring.

Wayne Simmonds, PHI at CHI ($5,600): After a tremendous Opening Night that featured a hat trick, the power forward has just three goals since. He's seen his salary of $6,500 from that first night drop all the way down to $5,600 in this spot. He's struggling for sure, but still has the same skillset that made him one of the better Flyers last season. This game against a Blackhawks squad that has allowed nine goals in 12 games to right wingers may be just what Simmonds needs.

Defense

Oscar Klefbom, EDM vs PIT ($5,400): Klefbom is still cheap and only has two points on the season. However, by getting shots to the net and blocking shots with a ton of ice time, he still produces at his value. He has double-digit FanDuel points in four of his last five games and the Penguins have had trouble stopping defensemen all year long.

Ivan Provorov, PHI at CHI ($4,600): With no Shayne Gostisbehere again, Provorov steps in as the main threat for the Flyers on the blue line. Over his last, three game the young Russian has a goal, four assists, 16 shots on goal, and eight blocked shots. He's too cheap to avoid against a Blackhawks team that has allowed the fifth most fantasy points to blueliners.
