DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Kari Lehtonen, DAL at COL ($7,800): While Lehtonen carries obvious risk and this is his first start since Nov. 18, Dallas has shown tremendous defensive improvement this season. The Stars are allowing the second fewest high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes in the league and have a sixth-ranked 83.7 penalty-kill percentage. Colorado has also generated a league-low 7.97 high-danger chances per 60 through its past 10 contests.

CENTER

Mark Scheifele, WPG vs. OTT ($7,400): With two goals and seven points during a three-game point streak, Scheifele is up to 13 tallies and 19 assists for the campaign. He's locked in as a high-end scorer, but his price doesn't reflect his success. Ottawa has also won just one of its past eight contests and allowed a target-worthy 3.49 goals and 11.34 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes during that span.

Derek Stepan, ARI at VGK ($4,700): This is the right price to turn to Stepan in a favorable matchup. The veteran pivot has recorded two goals, nine points and 29 shots while logging 20:11 of ice time (2:43 on the power play) through his past nine contests. Vegas has allowed 3.59 goals per 60 minutes through its past 10 games, too.

WING

Alexander Radulov, DAL at COL ($6,400): Projected to skate again on a high-octane line with Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn, Radulov is a strong lean against Colorado. The trio has combined for 4.7 goals per 60 minutes, and Radulov has eight tallies, 14 helpers and 55 shots for the season. After starting the season with a 4-1 record, the Avalanche have allowed 3.33 goals per 60 minutes through the past 19 outings.

Kyle Connor, WPG vs. OTT ($5,200): The rookie has collected five goals, nine points and 24 shots while averaging 17:48 of ice time (2:44 with the man advantage) through the past eight games. His hot stretch also includes three multi-point showings. As noted, Ottawa has struggled of late, and Connor checks out as a strong stack candidate to utilizing alongside Mark Scheifele.

Marian Gaborik, LA at CHI ($3,900): The oft-injured veteran has collected two goals, four points and 12 shots through five games since returning from a knee ailment. While he's slotted in on the third line at even strength, Gaborik is skating with the No. 1 power-play unit and offers salary relief in a sneaky matchup. Chicago is without Corey Crawford (), and the Blackhawks have surrendered the third most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (12.66) in the league.

DEFENSE

John Klingberg, DAL at COL ($5,800): With just four helpers and no power-play points through his past 10 outings, Klingberg is in a bit of a funk. However, he remains the go-to offensive defenseman for Dallas with an average of 3:44 of ice time with the man advantage during that span. Speculating on a rebound showing in the favorable matchup against Colorado could pay off handsomely.

Shea Theodore, VGK vs. ARI ($4,00): The Coyotes travel to Sin City on the second leg of a back-to-back set and have surrendered the seventh most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (11.74) in the league this season. Theodore is locked in as the power-play quarterback for the No. 1 unit, and he's collected a respectable four points, 12 shots and 13 blocked shots while logging 21:05 of ice time through his past six games. This is a manageable salary, too.
