FantasyDraft NHL: Wednesday Values

FantasyDraft NHL: Wednesday Values

This article is part of our FantasyDraft NHL series.

Not only does Wednesday only have two games on the NHL slate, three of the teams in action played Tuesday. That makes for an unusual evening, but nevertheless here are some daily fantasy lineup recommendations.

GOALIE

Toronto Maple Leafs, TOR vs. OTT ($16,600): The Maple Leafs are the only team in action that didn't have to play Tuesday, which definitely helps. It also helps them that Ottawa is 3-5-2 in their last 10 games, and they just got trounced 8-2 by Chicago. Frederik Andersen, who has a .922 save percentage, should be able to find success in this one.

CENTER

William Nylander, TOR vs. OTT ($11,500): As just mentioned, the Senators allowed eight goals Tuesday, and they had to use both their goalies in net. Before that blowout, Ottawa had a team GAA of 3.33, which was already bottom four in the NHL. Nylander has been playing some fine hockey recently, as he has 10 points in his last 10 tilts.

Mikko Koivu, MIN at CHI ($9,800): Despite concerns about an illness, Koivu notched an assist and seven shots on net Tuesday. He's put 110 shots on goal through 43 games, and the only thing holding him back is a career-low 5.8 shooting percentage. Since Anton Forsberg played in Chicago's last game, expect journeyman Jeff Glass (3.51 GAA, .908 save percentage) to be in net for the Blackhawks.

WING

Mikael Granlund, MIN at CHI ($12,000): With two points Tuesday, Granlund has 11 points in his last 10 contests. He's also put 38 shots on net in that time. On zero days of rest, Chicago has a team GAA of 3.38 and they've given up 35.6 shots on goal per tilt. Granlund should be able to keep putting pucks on net, and maybe he will get one past Glass.

Brandon Saad, CHI vs. MIN ($11,300): Saad didn't tally a point Tuesday, which snapped a four-game point streak. However, he put three shots on net, giving him 124 through 42 games. On the second night of back-to-backs, the Wild have allowed a league-high 37.3 shots on goal per contest. That doesn't bode well for Devan Dubnyk, who will be trying to bounce back after allowing six goals in his last start.

Patrick Marleau, TOR vs. OTT ($10,400): The 38-year-old Marleau still has some life left in his legs, as he has 15 goals on 114 shots through 44 games. While he's on a four-game scoreless stream, he has four goals on 32 shots in net last 10 contests. Plus, this is a great opportunity for Marleau to get back on the score sheet. The Senators had a team save percentage of .895 before Tuesday's eight-goal disaster.

DEFENSE

Ryan Suter, MIN at CHI ($10,200): Suter plays a ton of minutes (26:50 per game, 3:15 on the power play) which makes it easier for him to boost his fantasy value. He's tallied 22 assists this year, and he's also registered 93 shots on net and 81 blocked shots. Chicago, as previously noted, will be on the second night of a back-to-back, and they will likely be starting Glass, the 32-year-old journeyman, in net.

Duncan Keith, CHI vs. MIN ($8,900): Keith is now up to 99 shots on net without a goal, which is going to have to change at some point, and likely soon. Despite the terrible puck luck, he's notched 22 assists, including six in his last seven tilts. Meanwhile, the Wild have really struggled on the road. Away from Minnesota they have a 3.64 team GAA and have given up 34.0 shots on net per contest.
