FanDuel NHL: Friday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Friday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Goalie

Sergei Bobrovsky, CBJ vs. SJ ($8,500):. Bobrovsky has bounced back in his last two starts after two very poor efforts. The two-time Vezina Trophy winner has allowed just three goals in his last two games while seeing 81 shots and producing a .975 save percentage. The Sharks come in struggling, having lost their last four games and scoring just three goals in their last two contests. Bobrovsky's .937 save percentage and 1.94 goals against average at home over his last two seasons jump off the page, especially against the Sharks who are 21st in the league with 2.69 goals per game on the road.

Center

Erik Haula, VGK at MIN ($6,000): Haula takes on his former team with whom he spent four seasons before moving to Vegas via the expansion draft. The 26-year-old pivot is enjoying his most productive season as a pro with 18 goals and 18 assists, with six of his 36 points coming on the power-play. The second liner has a point in seven straight games with a goal in four straight contests for the Golden Knights, who have shocked us all and are fourth in the NHL with 3.20 goals per game on the road. Look for Haula to victimize his former teammates on Friday.

Alexander Wennberg, CBJ vs. SJ ($5,200): The young Swede has had an underwhelming season to this point but does have three points — one goal and two assists — in his last three games. Facing the Sharks, who have allowed the most fantasy points to centers over the last four weeks, will benefit Wennberg who is centering the second line. Skating on one of his wings is Cam Atkinson who returned from injury two games ago. Since his return, Wennberg and Atkinson have combined for two goals and two assists as they have shown the chemistry that made them so successful last season.

Wing

Reilly Smith, VGK at MIN ($5,600): Another member of the Golden Knights favorably priced is Smith, who has a goal in each of his last two games. The Wild have allowed 23 points — nine goals and 14 assists — to left wings in their last 10 games. The former Florida Panther is averaging three shots on goal over his last three games and sees solid ice time skating on the first line with William Karlsson and Jonathan Marchessault, as well as skating on the power play and in shorthanded situations.

Jason Zucker, MIN vs. VGK ($6,400): Zucker, who always seems to be overlooked, is on pace for his most productive season in the NHL. Playing in his sixth season, Zucker has 20 goals, five of which have come on the power play along with 17 assists. Over his current seven-game point streak, the California native has tallied five goals and two assists while averaging 3.28 shots on goal per contest. The Golden Knights have allowed 21 points to left wings over their last 12 games as Zucker looks to stay hot.

Cam Atkinson, CBJ vs. SJ ($5,500): Atkinson is in a good spot against the Sharks, who have struggled defensively against virtually every position of late. Over the last month, they've allowed the most fantasy points — 12 goals and 16 assists — over the last month. The 28-year-old Connecticut native has a goal and an assist in his last two games and should produce on Friday.

Defense

John Carlson, WAS at PIT ($5,900): With his production and ice time, Carlson is still a value even as the fourth-highest priced defenseman on this slate. The Massachusetts native has a point in six of his last seven games while averaging four shots on goal over that stretch. Averaging 26 minutes of ice time this season, Carlson shapes up as a key player on Friday for Washington, who average 3.39 goals per game on the road, fifth-most in the league.

Justin Faulk, CAR vs. DET ($4,400): The St. Paul, Minnesota native has taken a step back this season from his three previous campaigns, most notably in the goal department. Faulk has tallied at least 15 goals in each of his last three seasons but is sitting at just four to this point. Some tough luck could be attributed to this, as his shooting percentage has dropped to 2.8 percent from 7.6 percent last season. Faulk is still averaging 2.8 shots on goal per game, as he's looking for his luck to change.
