DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Anton Khudobin, BOS at NJD ($8,300): Spending up for a goalie can often pave the way to a low ownership percentage, and Khudobin boasts a high-end 11-3-4 record, .925 save percentage and 2.28 GAA for the campaign. With enough values in the skater pool, the Russian checks out as one of the safer options in nets, and Boston has limited opponents to a league-low 1.97 goals per 60 minutes through its past 25 contests. Plus, the Bruins will be looking for a rebound showing after losing 4-2 to Buffalo on Saturday.

CENTER

William Karlsson, VGK vs. PHI ($6,400): The Flyers enter this contest on the second leg of a back-to-back road set after sneaking out a shootout win against Arizona on Friday, so this sets up as a favorable schedule spot for Karlsson and the Golden Knights. The 25-year-old pivot has collected nine tallies, five helpers and 40 shots through his past 15 games, which has improved him to an elite 1.75 goals and rock-solid 2.83 shots per 60 minutes for the campaign.

David Krejci, BOS at NJD ($5,400): The veteran has collected a respectable five goals and eight assists through 17 games since returning from a lower-body injury in late December, so this salary makes him a solid mid-priced target. The Devils are also reeling, which sweetens the deal. New Jersey enters off of Saturday's 6-1 loss to Columbus and owns an active 3-7-0 record while allowing 3.1 goals per 60 minutes during the skid.

WING

Reilly Smith, VGK vs. PHI ($5,900): The 26-year-old winger is in the midst of a career-best showing with 2.78 points per 60 minutes, and Smith enters in excellent form with four goals, five assists and 18 shots through his past six outings. As noted, this projects as a soft matchup for Vegas, and Smith has connected with center William Karlsson for an elite 5.11 goals per hour at T-Mobile Arena this year.

Jakob Silfverberg, ANA vs. SAN ($4,800): With just a single goal and a 3.7 shooting percentage through his past 13 contests, this is a reasonable salary to chase statistical correction from Silfverberg. The Sharks are playing their second game in consecutive nights, as well.

Sam Reinhart, BUF vs. COL ($4,600): An assist in Saturday's game improved Reinhart to four goals and 10 helpers through his past 11 contests, so this salary has significant profit potential. Colorado is playing its third road game in four nights, and the Avs have been outscored 9-2 through the first two contests. Additionally, don't overlook Reinhart's chemistry with Jack Eichel -- if the pivot's ankle injury isn't serious. The duo has combined for 4.99 goals per 60 minutes this season.

DEFENSE

Dougie Hamilton, CGY at NYI ($5,400): The Islanders have been a complete mess defensively and are leading the league in goals and high-danger scoring chances allowed per 60 minutes. Hamilton has been more production of late with a goal, five assists and 16 shots through his past six contests, and he's also now skating with the No. 1 power-play unit. This salary is reasonable, too.

Shea Theodore, VGK vs. PHI ($3,900): As noted, the Flyers are in a tough spot against the Golden Knights, and Theodore checks out as an upside source of cap relief. Despite receiving consistent power-play minutes, the talented defenseman has collected just a single assist through his past seven games. He sports a respectable 1.41 points per 60 minutes for the campaign and projects to continue seeing offensively tilted minutes.
