DraftKings NHL: Friday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Friday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Marc-Andre Fleury, VGK vs. VAN ($8,500): While Fleury wasn't sharp last time out, and this is obviously a high price, Vancouver's road woes are tough to ignore. The Canucks are scoring just 1.99 goals and generating only 9.13 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes at five-on-five away from Rogers Arena, and the Golden Knights are a dominant 23-5-2 at home this season.

CENTER

William Karlsson, VGK vs. VAN ($7,000): Dating back to early December, the Canucks have gone 9-20-3 while allowing 3.59 goals per 60 minutes, so this also checks out as a favorable matchup for the Vegas skaters. Karlsson enters with an elite 1.68 goals per 60 minutes for the campaign, and he's marked the scoresheet in eight of his past nine contests.

Logan Couture, SJ at CHI ($6,100): After scoring a goal Thursday, Couture now has eight tallies and seven helpers through his past 16 games. He's locked into a top offensive role with Joe Thornton (knee) out of the lineup, and the Blackhawks aren't a daunting opponent with 3.56 goals allowed per game since the All-Star break.

WING

Jason Zucker, MIN at NYR ($6,100): Interestingly, the winger has collected 29 of his 43 points this season on the road and boasts a seventh-ranked 3.7 points per hour among NHL regulars away from home. So, with a manageable salary, the high-volume shooter is worth a look against the Rangers. New York has surrendered the third most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes in the league, too.

Tomas Hertl, SJ at CHI ($4,800): The 24-year-old Czech proved his health and recorded six shots in his return to action against the Predators on Thursday. Hertl also helps mitigate linemate Logan Couture's salary in a potential stack, and the duo has combined for a respectable 3.88 goals per 60 minutes this season.

Zach Aston-Reese, PIT at CAR ($4,100): With four goals and 12 shots through his past four games, Aston-Reese is the latest youngster to thrive alongside Sidney Crosby. Just note that because the Northeastern University product offers cap space and upside, there's a good chance he's a highly owned player from his price range.

DEFENSE

Mathew Dumba, MIN at NYR ($4,800): As noted, this isn't a daunting matchup for the Wild, and Dumba has established himself as a high-floor, high-ceiling asset this season. The 23-year-old defenseman's 1.48 points per 60 minutes rank 25th among all regular defensemen, and he also moves the needle in the shot and blocked shot columns.

Nate Schmidt, VGK vs. VAN ($4,500): Quietly, Schmidt has posted a 33rd-ranked 1.35 points per 60 minutes among all regular defensemen, so this salary looks short. He provides respectable coverage in the shot and blocked shot columns, and Schmidt is also currently quarterbacking the No. 1 power-play unit.
