FanDuel NHL: Saturday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Goalie

Antti Raanta, ARI vs OTT ($7,300): Raanta has been hot of late for the Coyotes, who are just playing out the string at this point. The 28-year-old has won four of his last five starts, allowing only five goals and averaging 33 saves per outing while tossing two shutouts in the process. The Senators, much like the Coyotes, have been struggling all season. But with Arizona being at home and Raanta playing as well as he is, I'll take my chances with him on Saturday.

Center

Derek Stepan, ARI vs OTT ($6,000): Stepan is in a favorable spot to do some damage against the Senators, who have been victimized regularly by centers by allowing 21 goals and 29 assists to the position over their last 13 games. And Stepan comes in with seven points — including four goals — in his last 11 games against Ottawa.

Matt Duchene, OTT at ARI ($5,900): Duchene has notched a goal in four of his last seven appearances and has turned up his game after a slow start since arriving in Ottawa. From his time with Colorado, he has been able to produce against Arizona by tallying four goals and two assists in his last seven head-to-head matchups. In a game involving two teams with nothing to lose, I expect this to be a high-scoring affair.

Wing

Jesse Puljujarvi, EDM vs NYR ($3,600): The Oilers have been waiting for some level of consistency from Puljujarvi, whom they selected fourth overall in 2016. The young Finn has posted a goal and an assist in his last two outings and is penciled in on the second line with Michael Cammalleri and Leon Draisaitl. And in three career games versus the Rangers, Puljujarvi has struck for two points with nine shots on goal.

Clayton Keller, ARI vs OTT ($5,100): Ottawa surprised everyone on Friday by winning in Vegas. The Senators are still a bad team, especially on the defensive end as they sport a team goals-against average of 3.44 (30th in the NHL) and a 75.3 percent penalty killing rate (29th). Keller has just one point in his last five contests, but has had a fine rookie campaign with 45 points — 17 of them goals — and should build upon those numbers Saturday.

Ryan Spooner, NYR at EDM ($4,800): Spooner has been on fire since coming over to the Rangers in the trade that sent Rick Nash to the Bruins. In his three appearances as a Blueshirt, he has amassed seven points and nine shots on goal. The Oilers' GAA of 3.31 ranks them 29th in the league and own one of the worst penalty killing units. Spooner has been seeing ice time on the second power-play unit, which improves his value in this matchup.

Defense

Oscar Klefbom, EDM vs NYR ($5,200): Klefbom hasn't recorded a point in his last four outings, but looks to have a great chance of making his way on the scoresheet Saturday. Over their last 14 games, the Rangers have surrendered 11 goals, 22 assists, and 154 shots on goal to defensemen. Even when Klefbom isn't producing with goals or assists, he has accumulated fantasy points with a steady stream of shots on goal and blocked shots.

Morgan Rielly, TOR at WAS ($4,500): It's often tricky to predict how outdoor games are going to play out, but the matchup between the Maple Leafs and Capitals should be an exciting high-paced matchup. And as Rielly is a strong offensive-minded defenseman and an above-average skater, this contest makes his value intriguing. The young blueliner has tallied a goal, two assists, and 15 shots on goal over his last four and 10 points and 34 shots in his last 14 against Washington.
