DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

Sunday night brings us three NHL games on the slate. If you want to end the weekend right, I suggest considering some of these players for your daily fantasy lineup.

GOALIE

Jacob Markstrom, VAN at ARI ($7,500): Markstrom was able to dress Friday, even if he didn't play, so it seems likely he will get the start Sunday. He hasn't been great, but he does have an excellent matchup. The Coyotes have only averaged 2.41 goals per game, second lowest in the NHL. They also are on the second day of a back-to-back. It's not a great day for goalies, so why not roll the dice on Markstrom?

CENTER

Sean Monahan, CGY vs. NYI ($6,800): Monahan has started 58.6 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, second highest on the Flames. He's also averaged 3:41 per game with the extra man and notched a whopping 19 power-play points in 68 games. The Islanders have a 3.53 GAA, highest in the NHL, and they also have the 30th-ranked penalty kill.

Christian Dvorak, ARI vs. VAN ($4,700): With a goal Saturday, Dvorak has three in his last five games. Additionally, he has put 26 shots on net in his last seven contests. Vancouver has a 3.25 GAA, fourth highest in the NHL, but since the All-Star break that number is up to 3.42.

WING

Matthew Tkachuk, CGY vs. NYI ($6,200): Tkachuk has tallied 13 points in his last 15 games, including six on the power play. On top of that, he's put 40 shots on net in his last 10 contests. The Islanders have allowed a whopping 35.7 shots on goal per game, so Tkachuk should be able to put a few pucks on net. If he can, there's a decent chance he will light the lamp, given New York's 3.53 team GAA.

Josh Bailey, NYI at CGY ($5,900): Bailey has notched 65 points in 64 games, but most notably, 28 of those have come on the power play. That certainly is intriguing from a fantasy perspective. Calgary has a 3.30 GAA since the All-Star break, bottom 10 in the NHL. Admittedly, that has been largely because Mike Smith has been out injured. However, he may still be unable to play Sunday, and even if he does he could be rusty after having missed a month of action.

Daniel Sedin, VAN at ARI ($5,000): Sedin has started 73.0 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, highest on the Canucks and one of the highest averages in the league as a whole. The veteran has enjoyed a bit of a renaissance recently as he has 15 points in his last 13 games, including six on the power play. The Coyotes are on the second night of a back-to-back, and with zero days of rest they have a league-high 4.10 GAA.

DEFENSEMEN

Nick Leddy, NYI at CGY ($4,900): Leddy has averaged 3.0 fantasy points per game thanks to his 38 points in 68 games. He's also averaged 3:16 per game with the extra man and tallied 14 power-play points. The Flames have the 15th-ranked penalty kill.

T.J. Brodie, CGY vs. NYI ($4,400): Brodie may not be as prolific as Dougie Hamilton or Mark Giordano, but he still has 32 points in 69 games, including 11 on the power play. That's despite the fact he has a 3.6 shooting percentage, which is the worst of his career. The Islanders are certainly the kind of team that can cure puck-luck issues. As mentioned earlier, they have a league-high 3.53 GAA, and let's not forget they also have the 30th-ranked penalty kill.
