Fanduel NHL: Friday Value Plays

Fanduel NHL: Friday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Goalie

Jake Allen, STL vs. VAN ($8,200): Vancouver scored five goals against the Blackhawks on Thursday, which matched their total for the entire month of February, well, not really. The Canucks are 27th in GPG with 2.56 and have scored eight goals in their last four matchups with the Blues. Allen has been up and down all season but has won five of his last six games. The net minder has won his last four starts against the Canucks and should be a safe play at home on Friday.

Center

Brayden Schenn, STL vs. VAN ($6,500): Vancouver plays its second game in as many nights on the road when they travel to St. Louis on Friday. Schenn sticks out as a top option with a point in four of his last five games and a goal in three of his last four games against the Canucks. Vancouver's allowed 20 goals and 22 assists to centers over their last 13 games.

Jack Eichel, BUF vs. MTL ($7,300): The Canadiens have been absolutely dreadful against centers, allowing the most fantasy points to the position over the last month. Over the 14-game span they've allowed 19 goals, 25 assists and 174 SOG. Eichel has just one point, an assist in his last three games, but does have 10 SOG and should make his way onto the scoresheet on Friday.

Wing

Alexander Steen, STL vs. VAN ($5,300): With three points in his last two games (one goal, two assists), Steen is another Blues forward to consider in a soft matchup against Vancouver. Against the Canucks, Steen has three goals and three assists in his last six games and should keep that scoring going. Vancouver has surrendered 31 points — 12 goals — to left wingers over their last 13 games.

Patric Hornqvist, PIT vs. NJ ($6,300): Hornqvist always seems to be a top value play for Pittsburgh because most of his teammates worth considering rostering like Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel are expensive. The Swede has five goals and 36 SOG over his last six games. In the month of March, a 10-game stretch, Hornqvist has six goals and two assists and has scored more goals in March (40) than in any other month throughout his career.

Ryan Donato, BOS at DAL ($4,200): The Harvard kid has turned a lot of heads in his first two NHL games. He has two goals and two assists while seeing big minutes on Boston's second line and top power-play unit. Dallas is pretty stingy against the wing position, but with Donato's hot stick and bargain price, it's hard not to get some exposure to him on this five-game slate.

Defense

Vince Dunn, STL vs. VAN ($4,100): Dunn has a goal and four assists in his last three games and is seeing time on the Blues' top power-play unit. The Canucks have allowed 30 points — six goals — to defensemen in their last 13 games to go along with 113 SOG. Dunn has two assists in two games against Vancouver this season and has seen at least 19 minutes of ice time in each of his last three outings.

Cam Fowler, ANH at WPG ($4,800): The Ducks are loaded with highly skilled defensemen, and Fowler could be the best of the bunch. His numbers may not be where he'd like them be with 30 points — eight goals — in 62 games, and he has just one point in his last eight games, but he has 14 SOG and 16 blocked shots over that span. Fowler's salary hasn't been this low since mid-December, and I expect him to be productive against the Jets.
