Doosan Bears (88-55-1 in 2019) at LG Twins (79-64-1 in 2019)

Tuesday, May 5, 1:00 AM EDT

Projected Starters

RHP Raul Alcantara (11-11, 4.01 ERA in 2019) vs LHP Cha Woo-Chan (13-8, 4.12 ERA in 2019)

Game Preview

The defending champion Bears have reached the Korean Series in five straight years, winning three times in that stretch. They'll turn to Raul Alcantara for the Opening Day start against a Twins team that finished with the fourth-best record in the league last season. Alcantara struggled to break through at the MLB level, posting a 7.19 ERA in 46.1 innings, but he had success in his first season in the KBO, posting a respectable 4.01 ERA in 27 starts for the KT Wiz. He struck out batters at a low 13.8 percent clip but kept runners off the basepaths by avoiding walks, handing free passes to just 3.7 percent of opposing batters. For their part, the Twins will hope 32-year-old Cha Woo-Chan can shut down a high-powered Bears offense which finished second in the league in runs scored in 2019. The 14-year KBO veteran rebounded from a poor 2018 campaign in which he struggled to a 6.09 ERA, cutting that mark by nearly two runs to 4.12 last season.

Top Picks

Cha Woo-Chan, Twins: Cha faces a tougher task than that of his counterpart Raul Alcantara, but the five-credit difference in price between the pair makes him an interesting option nonetheless. He also receives a small boost to his value from

Top Picks

Cha Woo-Chan, Twins: Cha faces a tougher task than that of his counterpart Raul Alcantara, but the five-credit difference in price between the pair makes him an interesting option nonetheless. He also receives a small boost to his value from the fact that the majority of the Bears' best hitters bat left-handed.

Park Kun-Woo, Bears: If you're betting on the Bears to get the best of Cha, Park makes for a strong captain choice. The outfielder, one of the only right-handed bats near the top of the Bears' lineup, set the table well for his team last season, hitting .319 and scoring 83 runs, good for second on the team.

Kim Hyun-Soo, Twins: Kim is a steal at just nine credits. He was good enough to make the jump to MLB back in 2016, and while he didn't stick around long, his .273/.351/.368 slash line in two seasons was perfectly respectable. In his two years since returning to his home country, he's recorded an .898 OPS.

Lee Chun-Woong, Twins: Another fairly-priced Twin, Lee comes in at just 10 credits despite leading his team in runs with 88 last season. The leadoff man doesn't hit for any power, managing just two home runs, but it's hard to complain about his .308 batting average or his 21 steals.
