Moved to Saudi Arabia card

Volkov will now take on Sergei Pavlovich in a heavyweight matchup at the UFC event scheduled for June 22 in Saudi Arabia, UFC President Dana White announced Wednesday night.
ANALYSIS
Volkov was at one point booked for a matchup against Jailton Almeida earlier in June, but that appears to have fallen through following the recent announcement. He'll now look to build on his three-fight winning streak against Pavlovich, who lost to Tom Aspinall in an interim title fight last November. Volkov will be at a rare reach disadvantage in the new matchup against Pavlovich, who also has the statistical edge in striking volume. A win here would put Volkov right on the verge of a shot at heavyweight gold.

Volkov is set to square off against Jailton Almeida at UFC 302 on June 1, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Volkov is coming off a victory in enemy territory when he defeated Tai Tuivasa via submission at UFC 293 in Sydney, Australia. Overall, he boasts an 11-4 record with the company and is riding a three-fight winning streak. His opponent at UFC 302, Almeida, is looking to bounce back from his first loss in seven trips to the octagon.
Dominant win in enemy territory

Volkov defeated Tai Tuivasa via submission (Ekeziel choke) at 4:37 of Round 2 at UFC 293 on Saturday in Sydney, Australia.
ANALYSIS
Outside of absorbing too many leg kicks, Volkov looked excellent. He used his massive frame and technical edge to consistently pick Tuivasa apart at distance. He did a nice job of limiting Tai's ability to land his trademark power shots, which kept Tuivasa on the defensive and drained his gas tank in the process. The choke which ended the fight finally materialized late in Round 2. It was Volkov's first submission win since February 2016. Alex has typically struggled to win the "big" fight over the course of his UFC run, but it's clear as day the big Russian is one of the top heavyweights in the world. Volkov has won three in a row and four of five dating back to October 2021.

Volkov is scheduled to fight Tai Tuivasa in a heavyweight bout at UFC 293 in Sydney on Sept. 9, per MMAJunkie.com.
ANALYSIS
Volkov, No. 7 in the UFC's heavyweight rankings, is scheduled to fight No. 6 Tuivasa in his native Australia. Both fighters prefer fighting standing and duking it out. The results suggest the high likelihood of a slugfest, with two-thirds of Volkov's wins and all but one of Tuivasa's wins being knockouts.
Dominant win as underdog

Volkov defeated Alexandr Romanov via TKO (punches) at 2:16 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Volkov has been doing this a long time and has been in there against a lot of quality opponents while fighting for multiple organizations. He's going to beat you if you don't show up ready to go, and Romanov clearly wasn't ready for this one. Volkov is known as a volume striker, but everything he threw in this one seemed to damage Romanov in a major way. He eventually forced his opponent to the canvas (after Romanov's failed takedown attempts) and rained down countless shots before referee Mark Smith pulled the plug. Now 34 years of age, Volkov has had difficulty winning the "big" fight in his 6.5 years with the UFC, but he's still one of the better heavyweights on the roster. The big man has won three of his last four and suggested a matchup against Ciryl Gane in his post-fight press conference. That's the type of fight that could get Volkov back in the title conversation, and also one in which he shouldn't have to worry much about the takedown prowess of his opponent.

Volkov is set to take on Alexandr Romanov in a heavyweight bout at UFC Vegas 71 on Mar. 11, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Volkov, who most recently defeated Jair Rozenstruik in June, will face off with Alexandr Romanov in March. The 34-year-old Russian fighter currently boasts a 9-4 record in the UFC (ranked eighth in the heavyweight division), and he will look to continue climbing the ranks when he matches up with Romanov.
