Valerie Letourneau

Trouble
Becomes Macfarlane's latest submission victim
FlyweightOther
December 16, 2018
Letourneau lost to Lyoto Machida via submission (triangle choke) at 3:19 of Round 3 at Bellator 213 on Saturday in Honolulu.
ANALYSIS
In order to win this fight and take the title, Letourneau was going to need to avoid the submission game of Macfarlane and land strikes. Early in the fight, she had some success with this strategy. In the second round, she escaped a ground exchange and ended up doing some damage on the feet. In the third round, Macfarlane scored a takedown and went to work on the ground. She tried multiple submissions before finally settling on a triangle choke. There are still plenty of fights that Letourneau can win in Bellator's flyweight division, but she will need to put together a streak before earning another title fight.

Gets title shot with Bellator
FlyweightOther
September 13, 2018
Letourneau will take on Ilima-Lei MacFarlane for the women's flyweight championship in Honolulu, Hawaii on Dec. 15, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Letourneau has been able to get her career back on track with Bellator, as she's currently 2-0 with the promotion after exiting the UFC on a three-fight losing streak. She'll now get the title shot that would have eluded her in the UFC, and will enter the cage with the hope her size advantage and high-level experience edge will be enough for her to prevail. One aspect working in her favor against the much younger MacFarlane is the fact that Letourneau has never never been submitted in her professional career, and that seems to be MacFarlane's preferred path to victory, at least of late.
Turns back a challenge from Kristina Williams at Bellator 201
FlyweightOther
June 29, 2018
Letourneau defeated Kristina Williams via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at Bellator 201 on Friday in Temecula, Calif.
ANALYSIS
Early in the first round, it looked like Williams was going to be able to use her height and reach to unleash her kickboxing combinations. However, Letourneau stepped forward with an overhand punch and dropped Williams to the ground. However, Williams came back in the second round. She came forward with multiple strikes and unleashed elbows in range. Williams tried to go back to the strategy in the third, but Letourneau survived and went to her takedown game to ice the fight. With this victory, Letourneau probably put herself in position to challenge for the Bellator flyweight title.
Added to Bellator 201

May 29, 2018
Letourneau will fight Kristina Williams at Bellator 201 on June 29 in California, Alexander K. Lee of MMAfighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Letourneau was originally expected to battle Bruna Ellen in this event, but the latter was forced to withdraw due an injury, so Kristina Williams has now entered the pairing. Williams currently owns just two career fights with Bellator and despite winning both, Letourneau has a significant advantage when it comes to experience. After a three-fight losing streak forced Letourneau to leave the UFC, she recently got back on track with a unanimous decision victory over Kate Jackson following her switch to Bellator, so she'll look to build on that come June.
Finally makes Bellator debut and wins decision
FlyweightOther
December 15, 2017
Letourneau defeated Kate Jackson via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at Bellator 191 on Friday in Newcastle, England.
ANALYSIS
Letourneau got back on track with a victory here. She left the UFC last year after dropping three straight fights. Letourneau had previously found new life in her career after moving to 115 pounds. However, the weight cut turned out to be too much. This fight was at flyweight, and Letourneau did seem to have more energy. She clearly had the striking advantage in this fight, but she was not very aggressive and let Jackson hang around in the fight. Letourneau probably only needs one more victory before she challenges Bellator Champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane. Based on this performance, Macfarlane would probably be the favorite in that fight.
To make Bellator debut against Kate Jackson
FlyweightOther
October 11, 2017
Letourneau (undisclosed) will face Kate Jackson in a flyweight bout at a joint event between Bellator and BAMMA on Dec. 15 in England, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Letourneau is set to make her Bellator debut after an injury forced her to withdraw from her scheduled fight against Emily Ducote at Bellator 181 back in July. She'll be fighting at her natural 125 flyweight class after previously being a part of UFC's 115 strawweight class. Letourneau owns a 3-3 UFC (8-6 overall) with three straight losses, including a defeat to Joanna Jedrzejczyk via unanimous decision at UFC 193 in the strawweight championship.
