Edges former title contender
WelterweightBellator
November 30, 2018
Yamauchi defeated Daniel Weichel via split decision (30-27, 27-30, 29-28) at Bellator 210 on Friday in Thackerville, Okla.
ANALYSIS
This was probably one of the best undercard fights in the history of Bellator. Both of these fighters are legitimate contenders in the promotion, and the fight was rather close. In the end, Yamauchi won the fight based on his striking and movement on the feet. He stayed the outside, but he used his reach to score and catch Weichel coming in. When the fight did go to the ground, he got the better of the grappling exchanges as well. He got back on track after dropping his previous fight against former champion Michael Chandler.

Drops a decision against a former champion at Bellator 192
WelterweightBellator
January 20, 2018
Yamauchi lost to Michael Chandler via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at Bellator 192 on Saturday in Inglewood, Calif.
ANALYSIS
Since moving back up to lightweight, Yamauchi had won three-straight fights and earned himself contender status in the division. However, his climb hit the ceiling against Chandler. Yamauchi showed that he has the talent to compete at this level and even hurt his opponent with a head kick. However, Chandler was able to control this fight with his wrestling and top game. Yamauchi has made strides and improved during his time in Bellator. That progression will likely continue since he is still only 25 years old.
Adds fight against Michael Chandler
WelterweightBellator
November 17, 2017
Yamauchi will take on Michael Chandler at Bellator 192 on January 20, Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Yamauchi will face a stiff test against Chandler after winning his past three fights to improve his career record to 22-3. Most recently, Yamauchi topped Adam Piccolotti via submission (rear-naked choke) in late September, and has won 18 of his 22 fights by submission. On the other side, Chandler enters having lost the lightweight belt to Brent Primus in June, which was mired with controversy after the referee stopped the bout due to Chandler's apparent ankle injury.
Keeps rolling against Adam Piccolotti at Bellator 183

September 24, 2017
Yamauchi defeated Adam Piccolotti via submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:19 of Round 1 at Bellator 183 on Saturday in San Jose, Calif.
ANALYSIS
Throughout his run in Bellator, Yamauchi has been a superior grappler. That was on display once again here. After connecting with a kick, he drew Piccolotti in a ground scramble. From there, it was not long until Yamauchi took his back and worked for the submission. The 24-year-old fighter improved to 22-3 as a professional. He has bounced back from a 2016 loss against Bubba Jenkins with three-straight victories over Ryan Couture, Valeriu Mircea and, now, Piccolotti.
Secures finish in back-and-forth affair against Valeriu Mircea

December 10, 2016
Yamauchi defeated Valeriu Mircea via submission (triangle choke) at 3:33 of Round 1 at Bellator 168 on Saturday in Florence, Italy.
ANALYSIS
Yamauchi was sent to the ground by a punch early in the round, but was somehow able to endure some brutal ground-and-pound by Mircea to stay in the fight. The 23-year-old was able to sweep and get top control before catching the choke in a scramble. Yamauchi has now won five of his last six fights, ending his last two with first-round submissions. His professional record stands at 21-3 (7-2 in Bellator) as a result of the victory
Scores quick submission over Ryan Couture
WelterweightBellator
October 21, 2016
Yamauchi defeated Ryan Couture via submission (armbar) at 1:01 of round 1 at Bellator 162 on Friday in Memphis, Tenn.
ANALYSIS
Well that did not last long. Yamauchi had the advantage on the feet, so you can't really blame Couture for going for the takedown. Yamauchi seemed to accepted the position and quickly went to work off of his back. He took his time, framed up the submission and forced the tap. In 23 career fights, Yamauchi now has 16 wins via submission, and he is still only 23 years old. His only struggles have come against wrestlers, so it will be interesting to see if the move up to lightweight from featherweight actually helps him in the long run.
