Drops decision as big underdog
StrawweightUFC
April 27, 2019
Esquibel lost to Angela Hill via unanimous decision (28-29, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fort Lauderdale on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Esquibel only connected on 19 percent of her significant strike attempts, losing the overall striking battle in each round. She did have a moment when a second-round combination appeared to deal some damage to Hill, though Hill continued to have an answer for her volume through the rest of the round. The Jackson-Wink MMA product is now winless in three opportunities with the UFC.

Will face Hill instead of Penne
StrawweightUFC
April 19, 2019
Esquibel will face Angela Hill instead of Jessica Penne during UFC Fort Lauderdale on April 27, Marc Raimondi of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Esquibel's fight against Penne will have to be rebooked again. However, the former will still fight on April 27. She'll be going up against Penne's friend and training partner, Hill. She has gone 2-7 since her return to the UFC in 2017.
Booked vs. Penne again
StrawweightUFC
March 14, 2019
Esquibel has been booked to face Jessica Penne in a strawweight bout at UFC on ESPN 3 on April 27, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Esquibel was originally set to fight Penne back in February at UFC Phoenix, but Penne weighed in two pounds over the strawweight limit that weekend and ultimately was forced to withdraw due to an ankle sprain. Now, two months later, Esquibel will get her shot against the fighter who hasn't emerged victorious from the octagon since 2014. Esquibel herself, however, has dropped her last two and hasn't won a fight since May of 2017.
Fight against Penne scrapped
StrawweightUFC
February 17, 2019
Esquibel will no longer face Jessica Penne at UFC Phoenix on Sunday, Ariel Helwani of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Penne had missed weight by two pounds for the fight, but Esquibel had agreed to take the fight anyway with 20 percent of Penne's purse headed her way. It's unclear if the weight cut was the reason for the cancellation, or if there are other factors in play. Sunday's card will move forward with 12 scheduled bouts.
Opponent misses weight
StrawweightUFC
February 16, 2019
Esquibel's scheduled fight against Jessica Penne will go on as planned despite Penne weighing in at 118 pounds -- two pounds over the strawweight limit, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Esquibel is 0-2 since entering the UFC, but oddsmakers are giving her a reasonable chance in this one, as she's only a (+115) underdog as of Saturday evening. She'll pick up 20 percent of Penne's fight purse for agreeing to fight a heavy opponent.
Added to first ESPN card
StrawweightUFC
December 11, 2018
Esquibel will take on Jessica Penne in a strawweight matchup on the first UFC on ESPN card scheduled for Feb. 17, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Esquibel has dropped her only two fights under the UFC banner since coming over from Invicta, taking unanimous-decision defeats to Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Jessica Aguilar. She'll now get a chance to rebound against the 35-year-old Penne, who is on a three-fight losing streak and hasn't won since 2014. Esquibel is a Jackson-Wink MMA product who hasn't been submitted since 2013 -- a good sign considering Penne has earned seven of her 12 professional wins by way of submission.
