Has nothing for Diego Sanchez at UFC 228
WelterweightUFC
September 8, 2018
White lost to Diego Sanchez via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC 228 on Saturday in Dallas.
ANALYSIS
This was a very poor performance from White. He allowed Sanchez to establish top position in all three rounds. From there, Sanchez landed ground and pound at will. White tried to scramble on the ground, but he had virtually no offense outside of the occasional up-kick attempt. At this point, it appears as if he does not have the wrestling ability to be successful in the UFC.

To fight Diego Sanchez at UFC 228
WelterweightUFC
August 9, 2018
White has drawn Diego Sanchez in a welterweight bout UFC 228 on Sep. 8 at American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
White (14-8) made his UFC debut on just 12 days' notice in May. He was defeated by Neil Magny via first-round knockout, but that risky move will now be rewarded, as the UFC will give him another opportunity against a storied veteran of the promotion. White could even find himself a betting favorite, as Sanchez looks to be nearing the end of the line, dropping three of his last four via first-round knockout. Sanchez will always have the most heart, but at 36 years old with a fading chin, that may not be enough to keep him standing -- even against a newcomer like White.
Details intense weight cut
WelterweightUFC
June 18, 2018
White confirmed to Peter Carroll of MMAFighting.com that he needed to cut 46 pounds for his short-notice fight against Neil Magny at UFC Liverpool on May 27.
ANALYSIS
White took this fight on just 12 days' notice, as he didn't want to turn down what could be his only opportunity with the UFC. According to White, this isn't the first time he's suffered through a cut like this, as he needed to lose nearly 40 pounds for a Cage Warriors bout with John Redmond back in April 2014. Reflecting on how he pushed his body to the limits, "The Thundercat" now says that the only way he'd do something like this again would be if a belt were on the line. Since that's unlikely to happen any time soon, White will instead focus on decreasing his walking around weight so that any future cuts are not quite as brutal.
Loses via Round 1 in short-notice Octagon debut
WelterweightUFC
May 27, 2018
White was defeated by Neil Magny via TKO (punches) at 4:32 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Sunday in Liverpool.
ANALYSIS
White never really had a chance to get going in this fight. He didn't have much space to show off his tae kwan do skills, a discipline in which he holds a black belt. "The Thundercat" tried to pressure Magny up against the fence, and was hit below the belt early on. After the fight was restarted Magny got a takedown and was immediately in mount. White was able to get him off, and when the referee allowed him to get back to his feet Magny initiated a clinch up against the fence. White made a mistake by leaving his head low and took a knee to the face which dropped him. Magny rained down punches and forced the referee to stop the fight.
Will make UFC debut against Neil Magny in Liverpool
WelterweightUFC
May 15, 2018
White will make his UFC debut in a welterweight matchup against Neil Magny at UFC Liverpool on May 27, Peter Carroll of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
White, 27, recently moved down from middleweight to welterweight, which helped him gain four consecutive victories under the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship banner. Each of those wins was via stoppage within two rounds, with three submissions (two triangle chokes) and one TKO. Despite the recent success, White is entering a new world in the UFC, especially now that he's pinned against a top-10 opponent in the 170-pound division. "The Thundercat" is currently listed as the No. 134-ranked welterweight on FightMatrix.com, and to put that in perspective, that places him on a similar tier as UFC fighters Geoff Neal, Luke Jumeau and Tom Gallicchio -- all of whom would also be significant betting underdogs against Magny. White does possess the advantage of having his home crowd behind him, but he'll need much more than that if he plans to make this a fight. His weight cut will also be worth monitoring, as White -- a former middleweight -- will be accepting this fight at welterweight on just 12 days' notice.
