Legal issue delaying return to Bellator
StrawweightBellator
August 21, 2018
Chalmers said Monday that he's unable to resume his fighting career with Bellator due to an ongoing legal issue, Ariel Helwani of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
In his interview with Helwani, Chalmers indicated that BAMMA, the United Kingdom-based promotion he previously fought under, has yet to clear him from contractual obligations. Once that situation is remedied, the former "Geordie Shore" reality star will attempt to book his second fight under the Bellator banner. Chalmers, who claimed a submission victory over Ashley Griffiths in his Bellator debut in May, had previously been rumored to be eyeing a potential matchup against CM Punk, according to Joshua Jones of The London Sun, but it's unclear if there's any mutual interest form either side in fighting at this point.
Picks up submission victory in front of reality show castmates at Bellator 200
StrawweightBellator
May 25, 2018
Chalmers defeated Ashley Griffiths via submission (guillotine choke) at 1:54 of Round 1 at Bellator 200 on Friday in London.
ANALYSIS
This fight was intended to be a showcase fight for a reality television star, and it ended up working out that way. Chalmers, who is a regular on the British show "Geordie Shore," picked up a submission victory via guillotine choke early in the first round. He turned professional in 2017 and has since gone 4-0 in his professional career. Scott Coker has a history of marketing fighters with appeal outside of fighting. It looks like Chalmers will be a regular on Bellator shows in the U.K.
