Looking at release after dreadful effort Saturday
FeatherweightUFC
December 17, 2016
Miller lost to Mizuto Hirota via unanimous decision (26-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC on FOX 22 on Saturday in Sacramento.
ANALYSIS
It seems like a virtual certainty that will be the final time we see Miller inside the octagon. He may have lasted the entire 15 minutes, but he couldn't have looked any worse if he tried. Miller was overwhelmed no matter where the fight took place and he seemed defeated from the moment the opening bell rang. Miller is now 0-3 (1NC) in his last four fights and he hasn't won a fight in nearly three years (January 15, 2014). He's going to find himself unemployed in the near future.

Cole Miller: Looks dreadful in loss to Alex Caceres
FeatherweightUFC
June 4, 2016
Miller lost to Alex Caceres via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 27-30) at UFC 199 on Saturday in Los Angeles.
ANALYSIS
Facing Caceres instead of B.J. Penn didn't do anything to improve Miller's performance. He was able to land three takedowns, but he lost the total strike battle by a stunning count of 108-39, losing virtually every single exchange on the feet. Miller has always been a submission specialist, but his striking appears to be going backwards. Now 0-2 (1NC) in his last three fights, the 32-year-old American Top Team product is nearing the end of the line.

Miller will now face Alex "Bruce Leeroy" Caceres in a featherweight bout at UFC 199 on June 4.
ANALYSIS
Miller was originally scheduled for BJ Penn's return to the octagon, but he'll now remain on the card against an opponent that took a fight on short notice. Caceres is nearly five years younger than Miller, but has been fighting with the promotion since 2011, and has six UFC wins to his name.

Miller will no longer face B.J. Penn at UFC 199 on June 4, as Penn has been flagged by the USADA for a potential anti-doping violation.
ANALYSIS
It's quite a tough break for Miller, as the fight would have received a lot of attention due to Penn's long history in the sport. Even with a new opponent, it's definitely a lost opportunity for the American Top Team product, who will now need to be set up with another challenger less than two weeks before the event. Miller, 32, is in search of his first UFC victory since Jan. 2014.

Miller will step in for the injured Dennis Siver to fight BJ Penn at UFC 199 on June 4 in Los Angeles, Megan Olivi on UFC Tonight reports.
ANALYSIS
Miller's last fight was a no-contest due to an accidental eye poke, so the 32-year-old is likely eager to get back on the winning track. Owning a 21-9 professional record, Miller is 6-6 in his last 12 bouts dating back to 2009. Miller is best known for his skills on the mat, as 15 of those 21 victories have been via submission. He'll pose a unique challenge to Penn on less than a month notice.

Miller and Jim Alers fought to a no contest at 1:44 of Round 2 at UFC on FOX 17 in Orlando on Saturday night after Miller suffered an eye injury and could not continue.
ANALYSIS
It was certainly an accident, but it's still frustrating for both men. Referee Herb Dean wanted to give Miller some time to recover and see if he could continue, but Miller immediately said that he couldn't open his eye and it wouldn't be getting any better. That will put an end to the contest every single time. The first round between the two men was rather uneventful.
