Leans on wrestling in victory
LightweightUFC
March 23, 2024
Ogden defeated Kurt Holobaugh via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Credit Ogten for recognizing a weakness in Holobaugh's defense and exploiting it. Trey landed three takedowns, one in each frame. There was never a need for more than that considering every single time he got the far to the mat, Holobaugh never got back up. All told, Ogden finished with 11:09 worth of control time and landed 225 total strikes, although many of them were of the token variety from top position. Ogden's striking defense is poor and he has zero power, but he's a threat on the mat. The 34-year-old Missouri native should be back in the Octagon in short order.

Fighting Holobaugh
LightweightUFC
January 11, 2024
Ogden will fight Kurt Holobaugh at UFC Vegas 88 on March 23, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Ogden remains at 1-2 in the UFC following a no-contest with Nikolas Motta in November. Still in search of his first win since September 2022, Ogden will get another chance against Holobaugh, who was victorious in his return to the UFC but still holds a 1-4 record in the promotion.
Referee error removes victory
LightweightUFC
November 18, 2023
Ogden and Nikolas Motta fought to a no-contest (premature referee stoppage) at 3:11 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
To say this is a bad break for Ogden would be the understatement of the century. Fresh off an awful performance in a unanimous decision loss to Ignacio Bahamondes last April, Ogden dominated Motta from bell-to-bell and was well on his way to either earning a submission victory or unanimous decision win, at which point referee Mike Beltran made an incomprehensibly bad stoppage, which, upon review, turned a sure-fire Ogden win into a no-contest. It's an extremely slippery slope, but there has to be a way to re-start a fight if a referee error such as this one occurs.
Scheduled against Motta
LightweightUFC
August 24, 2023
Ogden will compete against Nikolas Motta in a lightweight fight at UFC Vegas 82 on Nov. 18, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Ogden will try to redeem himself after suffering a loss at the hands of Ignacio Bahamondes at UFC 287. That fight only happened because Motta, 13-5 MMA and 1-2 UFC, withdrew from said fight in the first place.
Struggles in UFC 287 defeat
LightweightUFC
April 8, 2023
Ogden lost to Ignacio Bahamondes via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC 287 on Saturday in Miami.
ANALYSIS
Stepping in for Nikolas Motta (undisclosed) on short notice, Ogden never had a chance in what was a 15-minute kickboxing match. He appeared baffled by the length of his opponent, and that led to him constantly getting off second in all the striking exchanges between the two men. Odgen landed some powerful shots when he fully committed to engaging, but the overwhelming volume edge in Bahamondes' favor made this a lopsided result. The 33-year-old Kansas City native has now alternated losses and wins in his first three UFC bouts.
Filling in at UFC 287
LightweightUFC
March 28, 2023
Ogden will take on Ignacio Bahamondes at UFC 287 on April 8, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Ogden has picked up the fight on short notice, filling in for Nikolas Motta, who withdrew from the bout. The fight will proceed at a 160-pound catchweight, and the 33-year-old American, who currently holds a 1-1 record in the UFC, will look to continue building his resume against Bahamondes.
