Castillo lost to Nik Lentz via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 27-30) at UFC on FOX 17 on Saturday in Orlando.
ANALYSIS
It's a complete embarrassment that one judge scored the fight for Castillo. Danny appeared to be in terrible shape, something that is very out of character for him. He survived a couple of deep chokes in Round 1, but he did virtually nothing after. Once again, it's difficult to see how any judge could possibly give this fight to Castillo. Castillo comes from a big camp (Team Alpha Male) and he has fought good competition, but he has lost four fights in a row. A release seems unlikely, but not winning a fight in well over a year and a half is a good way to lose your job.

Danny Castillo: Drops Split Decision To Jim Miller In Chicago
LightweightUFC
July 25, 2015
Castillo lost to Jim Miller via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 27-30) at UFC on FOX 16 on Saturday in Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Castillo hung in there, but it wasn't a very memorable performance. He never really hurt Miller and he failed in all six of his takedown attempts. Castillo trains with a great camp in Team Alpha Male, but he just doesn't have the physical skills that his elite teammates (TJ Dillashaw, Chad Mendes, Urijah Faber, Joseph Benavidez) do. Castillo has lost three in a row and four of his last five. He may find himself on the chopping block.

Castillo will now fight Jim Miller at UFC on FOX in Chicago on July 25.
ANALYSIS
Castillo was originally scheduled to take on Rustam Khabilov, but he was recently scratched from the card due to visa issues. He'll face another fighter in Jim Miller who has lost back-to-back bouts as well, but one could easily argue that Miller faced better opponents. At 35 years old and sporting a 17-8 professional record, this could be one of Castillo's final chances to earn a high-profile fight in the lightweight division.
