Uses grappling to decision Frankie Perez Saturday
LightweightPFL
July 22, 2017
Wade defeated Frankie Perez via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27) at UFC on FOX 25 on Saturday in Long Island, New York.
ANALYSIS
And Long Island has their first victory of the night. As expected, Wade leaned on his grappling game to earn the win. He racked up a crazy 8:01 worth of control time and also landed three of eight takedown attempts. Perez actually won the total strike battle by a count of 53-42, but seemingly none of those strikes damaged Wade in the least. It wasn't a dominant effort, but it was a clear win for Wade. Concerns remain that Wade is going to struggle in a major way if he isn't landing takedowns, but he is more than talented enough to handle opponents like Perez who are nothing more than roster depth.

Loses grappling match to Islam Makhachev in Texas

September 17, 2016
Wade lost to Islam Makhachev via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Hidalgo, Texas.
ANALYSIS
In a fight that was contested almost entirely on the mat, Wade hung in there for the first ten minutes before fading completely in Round 3. He worked so hard to win the scramble exchanges between the two men that he had nothing left for the later portion of the fight. Wade had a couple of deep submission attempts of his own and he fought off a pair of deep submission attempts from Makhachev, but ultimately he just didn't have the energy to compete in the final frame. Wade's takedown defense also betrayed him as he allowed his opponent to land all four of his takedown attempts. Wade has now lost two-straight fights after winning his first four bouts in the UFC.
Slight underdog for Saturday's fight in Texas

September 15, 2016
Wade (+100) is a slight underdog for his lightweight bout against Islam Makhachev which will take place at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Hidalgo, Texas.
ANALYSIS
Wade is coming off the first loss of his UFC career - a unanimous decision setback at the hands of Rustam Khabilov in May. He had no answer for the constant pressure that Khabilov applied, and the fight displayed what many thought all along: Wade is going to struggle to win fights if he can't successfully employ his wrestling game. He gets an easier mark here in Makhachev, but he needs to show improvement in his all-around game if he plans on coming out on top.

Wade lost to Rustam Khabilov via unanimous decision (27-30, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Sunday in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
ANALYSIS
It was a disturbing effort from Wade on multiple levels. A fighter known for his wrestling skills, Wade showed no ability to defend a takedown or get off of his back. Wade also made numerous positional mistakes on the ground and he was luckily that he didn't find himself tapping out. The highlight of Wade's evening was a brilliant flying kick that landed flush on Khabilov's chin, but the Russian was able to recover quickly and Wade never threatened again. It was the New Yorker's first loss in the UFC. He had won his previous four bouts.

He displayed his wrestling ability in this one, taking Baghdad to the ground before eventually getting his back. The 28-year-old improves to 11-1 in his professional career, with his only loss coming in a WSOF fight back in March of 2013.
