Pulled from Utica matchup against Jarred Brooks
Sandoval will no longer face Jarred Brooks at UFC Utica on June 1, as he was forced to withdraw from the fight due to an undisclosed injury, Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com reports.

Sandoval was the victim of the fastest knockout in the division's history in his last fight, falling just 15 seconds in to Dustin Ortiz. He'll look to bounce back against another relatively new flyweight that is also coming off a loss. Sandoval has already fought four times under the UFC banner, and three of those contests were ended via first-round stoppage. Though "odds to finish" marks are typically low in the men's flyweight division, this matchup has a good chance of breaking that stereotype.

Sandoval defeated Matt Schnell via KO (punches) at 4:24 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night 108 in Nashville on Saturday.

The fight opened with a furious pace that saw the two competitors trading punches in the clinch like Pride FC fighters. Sandoval caught a kick and went for a takedown, and was able to slam himself free as Schnell wrapped the neck for a guillotine. Schnell looked to be trying to switch his hips for a submission attempt while on bottom, but Sandoval didn't miss a beat, posturing up and landing a succession of hammerfists to close the show. After getting starched by Wilson Reis in his UFC debut, Sandoval has now won his last two fights. He carries a 14-3 record in professional MMA.

Sandoval defeated Fredy Serrano via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at UFC on FOX 22 on Saturday in Sacramento.

Sandoval didn't throw much on the feet, but he landed with great accuracy (42/76, 56%). He also landed just two of 12 takedown attempts, but his defense was so effective that he could afford to go for them with regularity. Sandoval had the near impossible task of facing one of the top contenders in the flyweight division in Wilson Reis in his UFC debut in July, but we saw much more of what we can expect from him moving forward on Saturday. It was a nice effort.
