ANALYSIS
Lorenco will fight in the UFC ranks for the first time in his career after earning a contract earlier this month when he defeated Charlie Cleveland via KO (elbow and punches) at 2:02 of Round 1 at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series on Sep. 3. Earns contract by thriving in chaos
Lorenco defeated Charlie Cleveland via KO (elbow and punches) at 2:02 of Round 1 at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, he was one of five fighters to be awarded an official UFC contract.
ANALYSIS
Lorenco marched forward and threw big shots immediately after the opening bell, but it was Cleveland who found success early, slipping the looping punches of his opponent and returning with straight counter shots. Just when it looked like he was losing momentum, the Brazilian extended a combination to catch Cleveland on the chin and followed up with a big elbow when he was trying to recover. While he was able to get the win here, Lorenco will need a bit more polish going forward, as Cleveland was beginning to time his attacks before the consequential blow landed. At 26 years old, "The Black Mamba" is in his infancy as a heavyweight and may be able to climb the ranks if he can tighten up his technique.
