Garza lost to Farid Basharat via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC 329 on Saturday in Las Vegas.

Garza looked terrific here, especially when you take into account he's 23 years old, accepted this fight just a few days ago and was going up against an undefeated opponent. The result was far closer than the scorecards would lead you to believe, with it seemingly up in the air with just a few minutes remaining. Garza's two issues were that he allowed five takedowns (on a whopping 22 attempts) and absorbed far too many leg kicks. That said, he did a nice job of working his way back to his feet when he did hit the mat. The end result aside, it was an encouraging performance on multiple fronts against a high-quality opponent. It will be interesting to see what Garza can do with a full training camp behind him.
