Knockout win in UFC debut
Light HeavyweightUFC
August 29, 2026
Liu defeated Levi Rodrigues via KO (punch) at 4:26 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Shanghai, China.
ANALYSIS
Making his UFC debut here, this was Liu's fifth professional fight. He'll turn 30 years old next week. He made his pro debut in May 2023 and didn't fight at all from October 2024 to May 2026. Taking all that into consideration, it was a strong performance. Liu scored two knockdowns in the brief bout, the second of which was a perfectly placed right hand which finished Rodrigues on the spot. While the result looks great on paper, Liu's stand-up defense appeared to be lacking, and that will likely get exposed in the future. Regardless, this was a strong debut effort on home soil, especially given the fact both men will walk away with an extra $100,000 after this quick matchup was awarded Fight of the Night honors.
