Fight Stat Wrap: UFC Singapore Recap

This article is part of our Fight Stat Wrap series.

UFC Singapore failed to move the needle. The names of the main card did not generate very much excitement, and neither did the fights. With that being said, there were still some noteworthy statistical moments. The following is a by-the-numbers recap that highlights the stats and milestones that stood out on the main card, with stats courtesy of FightMetric.com.

Holly Holm takes a while to get going against Bethe Correia

To say that this fight was light on action might be an understatement. Through two rounds, the fighters had combined to land only 32 significant strikes and neither attempted a takedown. In the third round, Holm landed a head kick that finished the fight. The former women's bantamweight champion is not an accurate striker. For her UFC career, she lands only 35 percent of his significant strike attempts. However, against defensively limited fighters, her accuracy tips up and she is much more successful. In her famous knockout over Ronda Rousey, Holm landed 71 percent of her attempts and against Correia she landed 47 percent. These represent her two best performances from an accuracy standpoint and happen to be her only UFC knockout victories.

Holm finished with only 67.5 DraftKings points for the third-round knockout. Considering her pre-fight price was $9600 and the highest on the card, that has to be considered a disappointment for players. At $142.22 per points, players did not get good return value on Holm.

Marcin Tybura pulls it out against Andrei Arlovski

After a dominating first round, Tybura needed to get off of his stool in the third round and pull out a victory over Arlovski. In the opening frame, Tybura took down the former champion twice and outlanded him 35 to 8 on significant strikes. Despite the one-sided round, Arlovski returned in the second and outland Tybura 14 to 4. In the final round, Tybura got back on track with solid work from the top. He outlanded Arlovski 12 to 6 in the round and registered three passes.

Usually when DFS players decide to go with a heavily favored heavyweight, they are looking for quick knockout points. Those never materialized for Tybura, but he did finish with a respectable 83.5 points, which was eighth best on the night and the second highest score on the main card.

Colby Covington grinds out a victory over Dong Hyun Kim

When the lines came out a lot of people were shocked to see that Covington was a favorite over Kim. Despite what both fighters have, or have not, accomplished in their career, it was clear that Covington had a style advantage. Kim needs to be able to score takedowns to be successful, and Covington is a better wrestler. That storyline played out on Saturday night. Covington won the takedown battle 8 to 2, and that is pretty much all that needs to be said about this fight.

Covington finished with 96.5 DraftKings points, which was the highest score on the main card and fifth-highest on the night. His eight takedowns earned him 40 point alone.

Rafael dos Anjos takes a one-sided decision over Tarec Saffiedine

In his first fight at welterweight in the UFC, Dos Anjos showed that he can do more than hang. Saffiedine is a solid striker and former Strikeforce champion, but Dos Anjos clearly showed that he was the better fighter. He outlanded Saffiedine on significant strikes 81 to 60 and landed at an impressive 51 percent clip.

As impressive as the performance was for the former lightweight champion, that did not really come across in his DraftKings score. He finished with 75.5 points. His ability to finish and land takedowns made him attractive as a potential point scorer in DraftKings at lightweight. It will be interesting to see if that translates to the 170-pound division.
