January 26, 2022
Bassett Racing was looking to make an immediate impact in the NASCAR Xfinity Series last season, until Mother Nature derailed that plan. For the upcoming Xfinity Series season, Bassett Racing will give it another shot, as Bassett Jr. will attempt to qualify for the season opener at Daytona International Speedway. The plan from there is to run between 15 and 18 races on the year, Dustin Albino of Jayski reports.
ANALYSIS
After failing to qualify at Daytona last season, Bassett and his small race team were on the back foot from there on. He would end up running just two events all of last year in a part-time capacity with DGM Racing. Bassett will revive his No. 77 Chevrolet in 2022 and attempt to run about half the schedule. If he can make the field for the season-opener, there's a good chance the small team could grow this season.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2022
2021
Bassett made just 2 starts last season in the DGM Racing No. 90 Chevrolet. His 2022 plans have not been announced. His self-owned Bassett Racing team failed to qualify for an event last season, and that would seem his biggest hope to race in the upcoming season.
Bassett made just five Xfinity Series starts in 2020, with all coming in the No. 90 Chevrolet of Mario Gosselin. He earned a pair of Top-20 finishes in those efforts, but little more materialized. It remains to be seen if Bassett will continue his involvement part-time with DGM Racing in the upcoming season. They have employed multiple drivers to run full season schedules in the past, so it wouldn't be at all surprising if Bassett returns in some capacity.
