Risi Skipping Sebring
IMSA
March 6, 2019
Risi Competizione will not take part in next weekend's Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, with no firm plans to contest any remaining IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship races this year. Sportscar365.com has learned that the Houston-based team has elected to forgo the second round of the season due to a combination of Balance of Performance concerns and driver availability, according to technical director Rick Mayer.
ANALYSIS
Due to lack of driver availability from Ferrari, and the current BoP standards IMSA is imposing, Risi Competizione has opted to sit out next weekend's Sebring race. The move also casts some doubt on the remainder of the IMSA WeatherTech schedule for the No. 62 Ferrari team. It's an unfortunate development considering that Molina and his co-pilots navigated the team's Ferrari 488 GT3 to a runner-up finish in the season-opening Rolex 24.
