Chelsea and Aston Villa are off the Premier League slate this week, making the available player pool a little shallower than usual. Some bigger names won't be taking the pitch, such as Vincent Kompany and Luis Suarez, although others are set to make their returns.
Again, I'm still tinkering with the format here, hopefully this one is the clearest yet. Please leave any suggestions in the comments section below.
Manchester City vs. Hull City
Out:Vincent Kompany (groin) will likely return mid-to-late September. Yannick Sagbo is out, as he misses the second game of his three-match ban for picking up a red card against Norwich last weekend.
Not Expected to Play:Micah Richards (hamstring) will attempt to train Friday, although his availability for Saturday still seems doubtful. Stephen Quinn (hamstring) is close to a return, although he isn't back to training yet, so it's tough to see him jump right into game action. Friday update: The Daily Mail reports that Quinn is now expected to play.
Expected to Play:Matija Nastasic (ankle) was available for last week's 3-2 loss to Cardiff City but did not get off the bench.
Cardiff City vs. Everton
Out:Andreas Cornelius came on during extra time of last week's win over Manchester City, but had to be stretchered off during Wednesday's Capital One Cup match against Accrington Stanley after re-injuring his ankle.
Not Expected to Play:Darron Gibson (knee) failed a prematch fitness test last week.
Newcastle vs. Fulham
Out:Jonas Gutierrez is out for four weeks with a hamstring injury sustained during the Premier League opener against Manchester City. Ryan Taylor (knee) remains out indefinitely.
Not Expected to Play:Yohan Cabaye has been linked to a number of other clubs, including Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, and has stated that he will not take the pitch until the situation is resolved. However, manager Alan Pardew is set to include him in the squad this weekend, potentially forcing him to play. Maarten Stekelenburg (shoulder) missed last week's match against Arsenal and has not returned to training. Friday update: Stekelenburg injured his shoulder again in training this week. David Stockdale is likely to get another start.Kieran Richardson (hamstring) has not returned to training after injuring himself in Fulham's season opener. Loic Remy (calf) was expected to be out until mid-September but he could still try to give it a go.Friday update: Remy may be given the chance to dress but will still likely not start.
Expected to Play:Alexander Kacaniklic (hamstring) came on in the 62nd minute of last week's match against Arsenal and should be good to go again this week.
Norwich City vs. Southampton
Not Expected to Play:Gary Hooper (shin) was thought to make his debut Tuesday against Bury but he was not named to the squad at all.
Expected to Play:Anthony Pilkington (knee) returned Tuesday and scored during Norwich's Capital One Cup victory over Bury.
West Ham vs. Stoke City
OUT:Andy Carroll (heel) remains out but could return after the international break.
Expected to Play:Brek Shea started for Stoke during Wednesday's Capital One Cup match against Walsall, his first action since injuring his knee earlier in August.
Crystal Palace vs. Sunderland
OUT:Glenn Murray remains out with a knee ligament injury. Friday update: Stephane Sessegnon is out after his arrest for drunk driving on Tuesday.
Not Expected to Play:Phillip Bardlsey remains suspended indefinitely for posting a picture on Instagram mocking Sunderland's opening weekend loss. Jerome Thomas (ankle) was expected to play last week against Sunderland but has still not returned to full training.
Expected to Play:Steven Fletcher (ankle) was available off the bench for Tuesday's Capital One Cup match and could very well start Saturday.
Liverpool vs. Manchester United
OUT:Luis Suarez has four games remaining on his 10-match ban. Sebastian Coates is out for a few months after tearing his ACL last week.
Not Expected to Play:Aly Cissohko injured his ankle during Tuesday's Capital One Cup match, leaving the game after just 10 minutes. Friday update: Cissohko is out for the next six weeks.Kolo Toure was stretchered off during Tuesday's match with a groin injury. Joe Allen tweaked his hamstring during Tuesday's Capital One Cup match. Nani hasn't featured this season and has been recently linked to a Juventus. Rafael remains sidelined with a hamstring injury that should allow him to return in mid-September. Chicharito remains sidelined with a hamstring injury and has also drawn serious interested from Tottenham lately. Darren Fletcher remains sidelined after undergoing surgery in July for his ongoing bowel illness.
Expected to Play:Martin Skrtel (knee) has returned to training and is expected to play. Ashley Young came on as a substitute in Monday's draw with Chelsea and appears to be over his ankle issues.
West Brom vs. Swansea
OUT:Ben Foster is out for 12 weeks after fracturing his foot last week. Neil Taylor (thigh) is expected to be out for the next four-to-six weeks.
Not Expected to Play: Nathan Dyer (hamstring) has been ruled out for Thursday's Europa clash with Petrolul Ploiesti after suffering an injury in Swansea's Premier League opener against Manchester United.
Expected to Play:Nicolas Anelka has returned from compassionate leave and is back in training. Scott Sinclair made his West Brom debut Tuesday against Newport in a Capital One Cup match and could feature Sunday.
Wilfried Bony (ankle) and Ashely Williams (knee) did not travel to Romania for Thursday's Europa League match but they both should be good to go for Sunday.
Arsenal vs. Tottenham
OUT:Lukas Podolski suffered a serious hamstring injury during this week's Champions League qualifier against Fenerbahce and he's expected to miss the next 10 weeks. Mikel Arteta (quad) is still expected to be out for another few weeks. Thomas Vermaelen (back) is still out but could return after the international break. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remains out with a knee injury and could be back sometime in December. Gareth Bale is refusing to train with Spurs ahead of his drawn-out transfer to Real Madrid.
Not Expected to Play:Aaron Lennon has been experiencing pain in his foot and there have been no indications that he's back to full training yet.
Expected to Play:Aaron Ramsey picked up a slight groin injury during Tuesday's Champions League qualifier against Fenerbahce. Jack Wilshere also picked up a knock during the Fenerbahe match but should be good to go. Laurent Koscielny returns from a one-match ban for picking up two yellow cards against Aston Villa on August 17. He has also recovered from getting kicked in the face during the first leg against Fenerbahce.
