DraftKings EPL DFS Picks for Saturday, August 29: Two-Game Slate

Coventry City and Bournemouth are the favorites on Saturday's two-game DraftKings slate, and on a board this small the set-piece floors are what to build around.

Saturday is a two-game slate on DraftKings: Coventry City host Hull City, and AFC Bournemouth host Everton. Coventry are the biggest favorite on the board at just over 50 percent with an implied total around 1.7, and Bournemouth are close behind at home to Everton.

On a two-game slate, floor beats reaching, and the safest points come from the players locked into 90 minutes with a share of the set pieces. A few lineup notes shape it: Coventry are on a Tuesday-to-Saturday turnaround and have added pieces, so Taiwo Awoniyi profiles for around 70 minutes if fit; Hull City may drop from five at the back to four, which changes what Ryan Giles returns; and Everton's Iliman Ndiaye is caught up in transfer noise, so confirm he starts before locking him. Nothing's official until lineups drop.

FORWARDS

Mohamed Belloumi(HUL at COV, $6,200)

Belloumi is decent value if he's going to stay in his role. He projects for 90 minutes with a share of Hull City's set pieces, and against Coventry, he could turn $6,200 into a decent floor. That combination of minutes and dead-ball work is exactly the profile you want on a two-gamer.

Rayan(BOU vs EVE, $7,600)

Rayan is the way into the higher-scoring game up top. He went nearly the full 90 for Bournemouth against Manchester City and now draws Everton at home, a much softer spot. Even though the box score wasn't pretty in the opener, the role and the matchup are what matter here.

Taiwo Awoniyi ($8,200) is the biggest favorite's striker and a real goal threat, but he's more of a tournament play at the price since he projects for closer to 70 minutes. Tyrique George ($4,500) is the cheapest starter on the board and had five shots last week, and if Ndiaye doesn't start he could see closer to 90. Loum Tchaouna ($6,800) and Oliver McBurnie ($6,600) are the other mid-priced forwards, and Evanilson ($7,200) is the alternative Bournemouth striker. With two games and a couple promoted teams, it's not a pretty slate.

MIDFIELDERS

Marcus Tavernier(BOU vs EVE, $9,000)

Tavernier is the top floor on the slate. He plays 90 minutes with a share of Bournemouth's set pieces at home to Everton, and that two-way workload is what makes him the cash anchor. He'll be popular, and on a two-game slate that's fine. Justin Kluivert ($6,100) is another way into possible sets and PKs for Bournemouth.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall(EVE at BOU, $9,200)

Dewsbury-Hall is the other 90-minute set-piece anchor, and the most expensive player on the board. He runs a share of Everton's dead balls in the game most likely to open up, so he pairs a high floor with real upside if Everton get their chances. Running him alongside Tavernier is the popular cash core, and it'll be hard to get off it unless Coventry start a couple different players.

Gustavo Hamer(COV vs HUL, $7,400)

Hamer is the way to stack the favorite's set pieces. He and Jack Rudoni ($6,400) could both be back in the Coventry XI and taking corners, with Matt Grimes pushed off them, so the pair splits the dead-ball work. If you'd rather one, Rudoni played more central last time and is the cheaper route. Of course, it's maybe 50-50 that either of them start, so have a contingency plan if that's the case. If they don't, Caleb Yirenkyi ($3,800) would be slightly more forward than the other midfielders and Brandon Thomas-Asante ($4,300) would start on the wing.

Alex Scott ($5,200) is a strong Bournemouth value at a cheaper price, and Ryan Christie ($3,500) is the punt in that game, a veteran who can steal a set piece or a goal at the minimum. Matt Grimes ($4,400) only holds set-piece value if Rudoni sits, though at his price the late corners work if Rudoni is subbed off. Ryan Giles ($5,000) is the Hull option, better in a back four than a back five, but you're not getting clean sheet points listed as a midfielder. James Garner ($8,600) is a fade, too much for a defensive midfielder who may not go 90.

DEFENDERS

Adrien Truffert(BOU vs EVE, $5,700)

Truffert is the defender with the most going for him. He pushes forward from the back for Bournemouth at home to Everton, a far better matchup than the Manchester City opener. At $5,700 you pair the attacking work with a clean-sheet chance in a game they're favored to win. It's a bit expensive for no sets, but he probably has more upside than any other defender on this slate.

Milan van Ewijk(COV vs HUL, $4,700)

Van Ewijk is the cheap way into the slate's best shutout. Coventry are the biggest favorite on the board, and the raw numbers from the opener at Arsenal aren't the read against Hull City, so he and Jay Dasilva ($4,500) both get forward at a price that leaves room everywhere else. Pairing one or both with the Coventry keeper is the clean-sheet stack on this slate.

Vitaliy Mykolenko ($4,900) is the Everton option if you want a piece of that game from the back, and Lewie Coyle ($4,300) gets forward for Hull, though he's more likely than Giles to come off if Hull play a back four.

GOALKEEPER

Carl Rushworth(COV vs HUL, $5,400)

Rushworth is the keeper I'd build the clean sheet around. Coventry are the better side against Hull City, and with both teams likely to score in the other game, the shutout equity is highest here. Stack him with van Ewijk and Dasilva and the whole Coventry back line pays off together if it holds.

Djordje Petrovic ($5,100) is the Bournemouth alternative if you'd rather the higher-total game, though a clean sheet is less likely there. Jordan Pickford ($4,300) and Konstantinos Tzolakis ($4,200) are the cheaper saves options for the road underdogs.
