Best Goalkeeper Waiver Wire Pickups for Fantrax & Sleeper GW2

Konstantinos Tzolakis, Hull City (6% Fantrax, 15% Sleeper)

Those who were brave enough to start Tzolakis were richly rewarded as Hull shocked Manchester United in their return to the top flight of English football. Tzolakis scored 25 fantasy points in the five-save shutout and gets a matchup against fellow promoted side Coventry City in Gameweek 2.

Zion Suzuki is also worth looking at as an add as he's likely to take over the starting role at Aston Villa following his transfer to the club. The matchup against Arsenal this week isn't a favorable one, but Suzuki had an excellent World Cup and should be Villa's No. 1 moving forward pending the status of Emiliano Martinez.

Best Defender Waiver Wire Pickups for Fantrax & Sleeper GW2

James Justin, Leeds United (28% Fantrax, 18% Sleeper)

Justin posted a 16-point effort during the 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday. While the clean sheet did some of the heavy lifting, it was well earned as Justin registered six tackles and four clearances while lining up at left wing-back. Despite a more advanced role, Justin offered little going forward, though he's a solid streaming option for a home clash with Brentford in GW2.

Ola Aina, Nottingham Forest (48% Fantrax, 14% Sleeper)

Despite being on the opposite side of Justin in a 1-0 loss Saturday, Aina impressed with 18 points, flashing attacking upside with three chances created and four crosses from open play at his right wing-back role. Aina and Forest have a less than favorable matchup against Liverpool in GW2, but the defender is one to monitor moving forward as he's likely to eclipse the 50-percent mark at Fantrax soon.

Best Midfielder Waiver Wire Pickups for Fantrax & Sleeper GW2

Julio Enciso, Ipswich Town (36% Fantrax, 19% Sleeper)

Enciso was a key figure in Ipswich's victory in their return to the Premier League, as he set up a goal during the 2-1 win over Sunderland. Players from promoted sides often get overlooked, but Enciso should be a weekly starter at Ipswich and is coming off of a three-goal, six-assist season across 27 appearances for Strasbourg in Ligue 1 last year. While corners may not be guaranteed with Abdul Fatawu and Marcelino Nunez in the side, he's still on the ball a ton.

Harrison Armstrong, Everton (2% Fantrax, 0% Sleeper)

Armstrong provided an assist during his 12-point performance Saturday as Everton came away with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace. The question will be what kind of attacking upside Armstrong has from his role in defensive midfield, as the assist came from his lone chance created with no shots or crosses. A tougher matchup on the road at Bournemouth beckons, but Armstrong could have a decent floor for those in need of midfield help early in the season. With James Garner back from injury, his minutes could be split with Hayden Hackney, as well.

Best Forward Waiver Wire Pickups for Fantrax & Sleeper GW2

Eddie Nketiah, Crystal Palace (7% Fantrax, 7% Sleeper)

Nketiah drew a start in attacking midfield during the 2-0 loss to Everton and scored eight points in just 54 minutes as he fired a shot and created two chances. Of course, he should've scored with a great chance early in the match. With Palace thin in attack, the role could continue to Nketiah, meaning he is worth a look as a depth option at forward for fantasy managers. His minutes will likely depend on what happens with Ismaila Sarr moving forward.

Thierno Barry, Everton (39% Fantrax, 20% Sleeper)

I'm riding Barry again this week as he went up just 14 percent following last week's article. A goal in his season debut should boost him up over the 50-percent mark at Fantrax, but if he's still available in your league he is worth targeting as a readily available starting forward on the waiver wire. His teammate Tyrique George is also worth a look after starting and scoring 8.5 points across 83 minutes on the back of five shots.

Final Thoughts

Gameweek 2 could produce more unexpected starters and new Fantrax and Sleeper waiver wire targets, so confirmed lineups will be especially important. Confirmed lineups can create late waiver value, especially when low-rostered players unexpectedly start in advanced roles. Check RotoWire's lineups and injury updates before finalizing GW2 claims.
