FPL Gameweek 6 Rankings: Best Players & Captain Picks

Arsenal have the standout fixture of FPL Gameweek 6, hosting Leeds United in one of the strongest spots on the slate for both attacking returns and clean-sheet potential. Manchester United and Chelsea also have favorable home matchups, while Everton and Newcastle offer useful options away from the most obvious teams.

Those fixtures should shape the top of this week's FPL rankings, particularly for captaincy, defenders and transfer targets. Manchester City and Liverpool are still capable of producing premium returns, but the matchup between the two makes this a week where managers can reasonably look elsewhere.

These are my FPL GW6 rankings, best players and captain picks based on projected points, expected minutes, predicted lineups, fixture difficulty, role and price. Use the rankings below to compare transfer targets, starting decisions and captain options across every position.

FPL GW6 Captain Picks

Captaincy is more open than usual this week, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea all offering strong alternatives to Erling Haaland.

Bruno Fernandes (Man United, vs Tottenham): Manchester United have one of the better attacking setups of the week, and Fernandes remains one of the safest players to trust for minutes, involvement and set pieces. He belongs firmly in the captaincy conversation at home.

Bukayo Saka (Arsenal, vs Leeds United): Arsenal have the best overall matchup on the slate, making Saka one of the most appealing captain options. The question is whether you trust Arsenal in this spot or not. Saka and Martin Odegaard have some appeal if you trust them at home against a good team.

Cole Palmer (Chelsea, vs Bournemouth): Chelsea also have a favorable home matchup, and Palmer remains the player most likely to benefit if their attack clicks. Assuming he's fit for GW6, Palmer is more likely to score than Morgan Rogers and healthier than Joao Pedro.

Erling Haaland (Man City, at Liverpool): Haaland remains difficult to ignore in any matchup, but the trip to Liverpool lowers his appeal relative to most weeks. This is one of the better opportunities to consider a different captain without taking an unnecessary risk.

FPL GW6 Best Players by Position

A quick read on who to build around before the full rankings.

Forwards: Kai Havertz is injured, so Viktor Gyokeres makes his debut in the rankings. Haaland remains a premium option despite the difficult trip to Liverpool. Chelsea and Everton also offer interesting forward alternatives in good spots.
Midfielders: Bruno Fernandes, Bukayo Saka and Cole Palmer are among the strongest midfield options this week because of their roles and fixtures. Morgan Rogers, Harvey Barnes and Bryan Mbeumo are also worth considering in favorable or high-upside spots.
Defenders: Arsenal defenders stand out because of the combination of home advantage and clean-sheet potential, which is the case almost every week. Everton also have a favorable defensive matchup at Hull, while Newcastle and Manchester United offer useful alternatives.
Goalkeepers: Arsenal lead the clean-sheet outlook, with Everton, Manchester United and Newcastle also offering reasonable options depending on price, expected saves and your current squad structure.
