Lee won 7-6 (4), 6-1 over Henri Laaksonen in the first round of Winston-Salem on Monday.
The 21-year-old South Korean, ranked No. 212, made history with his first-career win as he became the first deaf player to win an ATP main draw match. In Round 2, Lee will take on No. 3 seed Hubert Hurkacz. The youngster has had some success on the Challenger tour this year, namely a final appearance earlier this season in Little Rock.
