Mendez won 6-2, 6-2 over Jana Fett in the first round of Cluj-Napoca on Monday.

ANALYSIS
Mendez seems to be making the most of her rare appearance at the WTA level as she advanced through qualifying and now is into Round 2 of the main draw. It would be unexpected for her to advance much further, but the field in Cluj-Napoca is relatively weak and she does have 11 ITF clay-court titles under her belt since 2017, so she knows what it takes to win a tournament.
