Fantasy WNBA End-of-Season Risers and Fallers: Top Waiver Wire Adds to Watch
Whether your league is still competing or you're just looking for daily fantasy options, there are still plenty of players worth considering as the regular season winds down. Below, I'll highlight some who should be on your radar for the remainder of the campaign, as well as a few to avoid going forward.
Top Fantasy WNBA Risers This Week
Laura Juskaite, Toronto Tempo
Juskaite has been extremely productive for the injury-riddled Tempo of late. The 28-year-old forward has reached the 20-point threshold in back-to-back outings, and she's finished with 30 or more fantasy points in three of her last four games. During that span, she has averaged 18.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.3 assists in 28.8 minutes per showing.
Awak Kuier, Dallas Wings
The Wings are expected to carefully monitor the playing time of Paige Bueckers, Arike Ogunbowale and Jessica Shepard for the remainder of the regular season, and Alanna Smith (lower leg) is without a timetable for a return. Kuier could see a slight bump in minutes and increased shot attempts, though her defensive upside is also a strong positive regardless. She's supplied at least 23 fantasy points in five of her last six appearances, averaging 9.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.8 combined steals-plus-blocks and 1.7 assists in 27.5 minutes per contest over that span.
Gabriela Jaquez, Chicago Sky
The Sky are nearing the end of their season and have multiple veterans dealing with injuries. Jaquez has now played 20-plus minutes in four consecutive contests, and she started her last time out, when she dropped a team-high 14 points across 31 minutes in Saturday's loss to Atlanta. The rookie has scored in double figures in back-to-back games, averaging 12.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 0.5 assists across 27.5 minutes per tilt in that pair of outings.
Key Fantasy WNBA Fallers to Avoid This Week
Natisha Hiedeman, Seattle Storm
Hiedeman has been a must-start for most of the campaign, though that isn't the case in the final week of the regular season. The veteran guard missed four consecutive games with a shoulder injury leading up to the FIBA World Cup break. She was solid in the team's first game back, when she finished with 23 fantasy points, though Hiedeman has tallied 10 and seven fantasy points in the two games since. This isn't to say she's worth dropping or totally avoiding in daily fantasy formats, but her recent performances haven't been encouraging.
Sydney Taylor, Chicago Sky
Taylor has yet to play 24-plus minutes since returning from a five-game absence due to a groin injury, and she's been fairly disappointing of late. The rookie guard has closed with fewer than 12 fantasy points in three of her last five appearances, averaging 7.0 points, 2.8 assists and 1.4 rebounds while shooting 24.1 percent from the field and 13.3 percent from deep in 19.8 minutes per contest during that time.
Nyara Sabally, Toronto Tempo
Sabally missed seven consecutive games with a calf injury before representing Germany at the World Cup. She's been a healthy DNP in each of Toronto's last two games, so I'd steer clear until there's an update or until she returns to game action.
Fantasy WNBA Player to Watch
Alexa Held, Phoenix Mercury
The Mercury are ready to wrap up a lost season, as they have been eliminated from playoff contention for the first time in the Nate Tibbetts era and just the second time since 2013. Kahleah Copper (groin) is expected to return from a three-game absence Monday, and if she is able to suit up for both of the Mercury's last two games, Held's upside would take a hit. Still, the 26-year-old guard is coming off a 21-point performance and has produced between 16 and 38 fantasy points in four consecutive games.
