2024 Fantasy Outlook
Mendick has seen major-league action in each of the past five years, though he's played more than 35 games in a season just once. He's largely been ineffective offensively with a .652 OPS in 515 big-league plate appearances but provides plenty of versatility defensively. Mendick rejoined the White Sox on a minor-league deal for 2024 and will likely be limited to a utility role if he receives a look in the majors. Read Past Outlooks

Should have regular role
Mendick went 2-for-4 with a stolen base Saturday against the Brewers.
ANALYSIS
Mendick is expected to have a regular role in the White Sox's lineup after Bryan Ramos was sent to Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday. However, Mendick started at second base Saturday and notched his sixth multi-hit appearance of the season as well as his second stolen base. He is unlikely to hit for much average thanks to a 29.3 percent strikeout rate, though he could be a decent source of homers and steals in deeper formats so long as he keeps seeing consistent playing time.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Regular role coming in 2022?
Mendick is an option to see more time at second base next season with Cesar Hernandez headed for free agency, though the team is expected to explore external candidates, Scott Merkin of MLB.com notes.
ANALYSIS
Hernandez joined the White Sox via an in-season trade and didn't produce, so the club decided to move on. Mendick could be next in line, but the 28-year-old has a career OPS of just .640 and has never been a true everyday player, so Chicago may look for a more proven option, which would push Mendick into a utility role

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2021
2020
Mendick was amid his most productive season at the plate when he blew out his right knee last June. The White Sox elected to non-tender him as a result of the injury, but he was quickly scooped up by the Mets on a major-league deal. The hope is that Mendick will be ready to roll for Opening Day, although it's possible the team proceeds cautiously with him. Mendick is predominantly a middle infielder but can handle third base and the corner outfield spots, as well. His versatility could be useful for the Mets but it's not a skill set which figures to bear any fantasy fruit.
