2024 Fantasy Outlook
Did anyone have Raley stealing more bases in 2023 than Ozzie Albies, Jeremy Pena, or Adolis Garcia? Yea, that really happened. Not bad for a player who was out of options coming into camp and was nearly cut at the end of camp. Raley refused to let that happen, as he continued to hit becoming a more nimble version of Ji-Man Choi for the Rays as someone who could come in and generate offense against righties (133 wRC+, 17 homers) and play both first base and a corner outfield position. Raley is built like a tight end and is yet deceptively quick which is why the club permitted him to attempt 17 steals last season. He does have voluminous swing and miss in his game but is also quite capable of barreling up mistakes to all fields. His role in 2024 should be more of the same but the swing and miss in his game opens the door to more volatility in his outcomes than other players. Set expectations around 375-400 plate appearances, which takes him off mixed league draft plans. Read Past Outlooks
Hitting bench versus lefty
Raley is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.
ANALYSIS
The lefty-hitting Raley will exit the starting nine for the series finale while the Nationals bring southpaw Patrick Corbin to the hill. With fellow lefty-hitting outfielder Dominic Canzone also hitting the bench, the Mariners will go with Jonathan Clase and Mitch Haniger in the corner-outfield spots.

Raley seemed destined for a bigger major-league opportunity when he was traded from the Dodgers to the Rays shortly before Opening Day, but he wound up with the exact number of plate appearances (72) for the second year in a row and similar production, as well. He crushed the ball again at Triple-A, which should be expected since he was 27 at the time (now 28) and repeating the level for a third time. Raley has good raw power and has shown elite sprint speed in the majors, but he might not ever make enough contact for it to matter. He's out of options, so it could be make-or-break time.
