Stroll will trade one world champion teammate for another in 2023 as he welcomes Fernando Alonso to Aston Martin. Stroll spoke positively about his relationship with Sebastian Vettel, and also indicated his excitement to pair with Alonso, hoping the latter will push him even further. The coming year will be Stroll's seventh in the series, but he has yet to crack the top 10 in the championship. He scored three podiums in those first seven seasons but none since 2020. His best result last year was a sixth place in Singapore, which is a finish he has to be aiming for more frequently with the team's advancement. Last year's car was a reliable one and bringing in Alonso's knowledge of car development could help Stroll raise his game. Stroll finished 14th at the Monaco Grand Prix F1 race at Circuit de Monaco on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Stroll reached Q2, a better fate than his teammate Fernando Alonso, and began the race in P13 after a couple of disqualifications ahead of him. He also picked up a spot on the opening lap of the race, putting in 11th for the majority of the grand prix. Like much of the field, Stroll tried to go through the race without pitting after a red flag on the opening lap, though graining was severe enough on his medium tire to force him to the pits. From 12th place, Alonso built up a gap for Stroll to put on fresh tires without losing position, though that effort was undone after Stroll suffered a puncture on Lap 49.
