Oscar Piastri

McLaren F1 Team
2023 Fantasy Outlook
The Australian rookie Piastri has quite the shoes to fill in his first season with Formula One, taking former McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo's spot as Lando Norris' teammate for the 2023 campaign. Piastri was quite the phenom in his last season with Formula 2 in 2021, winning a total of six times, earning 252 points, and walking away with the Driver's Championship after just 23 starts in the series. The driver of the No. 81 will have a lot of eyes on his on-track performance this year, as McLaren is famous for their incoming drivers having issues sufficiently adapting to the feeling and handling of the car. In the upcoming season, Piastri's greatest challenge will be learning how to adjust his racing style to fit the capabilities of the MCL36 and where he fits amongst all the new talent on the grid this season. First Podium at Suzuka
Formula One
September 24, 2023
Piastri finished third at the Japanese Grand Prix F1 race at Suzuka International Racing Course on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The McLaren rookie would turn in a wonderful performance in Japan. At the lights out he'd lock into a three-way battle for the lead, but settle into P3 after the opening mayhem. Piastri would be one of the first among the leaders to pit on lap 14 and switch to hard tyres. From there he'd settle into the lead drivers and overtake George Russell on lap 42 for third-place. He'd hang on down the stretch and claim his first-career podium finish at the Suzuka circuit.
