Hakanpaa, who hasn't played since March 16 due to a lower-body injury, might not be able to return before the end of the first round, according to Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine.

Hakanpaa recorded two goals, 12 points, 33 PIM, 196 hits and 123 blocks in 64 regular-season contests. If he was healthy, Hakanpaa would probably be serving on the second or third pairing. In the meantime, Nils Lundkvist has been a regular in the lineup.

After a four-year run with Karpat of the Finnish Liiga, Hakanpaa returned to North America in 2019-20. He posted 13 points in 47 games with AHL San Diego and added one goal in five outings with the Ducks. It's been a long road to the NHL for the 28-year-old Finn, but he's set to feature in a third-pairing role in 2020-21. The Ducks' offense isn't expected to be very good, and Hakanpaa isn't known for offense either, so it's unlikely he reaches double-digit points in the 56-game campaign.
