RotoWire's Top 100 Prospects: Sickels' June Update

This article is part of our John Sickels' Column series.

RotoWire Top 100 Prospects for 2010
Late June Update

Players who have exceeded rookie qualifications (130 at-bats, 50 innings) are not included. Players cut this time for that reason are: Jason Heyward, Neftali Feliz, Starlin Castro, Justin Smoak, Austin Jackson, Ike Davis, Jhoulys Chacin, Mike Leake, Jaime Garcia, Alex Avila and Michael Saunders.

All prospect lists are a blend of short-term, medium-term, and long-term potential. We try to consider both fantasy and "real life" baseball in mind when doing these lists. As a result, this list looks different than if we were looking solely at pure baseball ability, or if we focused entirely on fantasy value. Obviously you'll need to adjust your investments based on the context in which your fantasy team plays.

Most short-season players, 2010 draftees, and players from the Dominican and Venezuelan Summer Leagues are not included.

I try to avoid big swings in value for a player from list to list, to avoid "flavor of the month" syndrome and overreaction to a cold streak or hot streak.

1. Stephen Strasburg, RHP, Washington Nationals ETA 2010
2. Carlos Santana, C, Cleveland Indians ETA 2010
3. Buster Posey, C, San Francisco Giants ETA 2010
4. Jeremy Hellickson, RHP, Tampa Bay Rays ETA late 2010
5. Aroldis Chapman, LHP, Cincinnati Reds ETA 2011
6. Michael Stanton, OF, Florida Marlins ETA 2010
7. Domonic Brown, OF, Philadelphia Phillies ETA 2011
8. Tanner Scheppers
