These are picks for Monday's eight-game night slate.
Pitcher
Andrew Cashner, $8,000 - Cashner is right in the middle of the field of pitchers as far as price goes, checking in as the eighth highest-priced pitcher on a night where 16 can be used. By now everyone knows what a good pitcher's park Petco is but Cashner excelled there last season. Over 75.1 innings last season, Cashner sported a 1.43 ERA along with a 7.2 K/9IP mark. His counterpart, Rubby De La Rosa ($6,200) is also worth a look if you want to go with a cheaper option.
Catcher
Stephen Vogt, $2,600 - While Vogt is in a platoon to start the season, he's on the better half of it being a left-handed hitter. Monday night he will draw a decent matchup in Houston going against Scott Feldman. Vogt had a .770 OPS vs. right-handed pitching last season and eight of his nine home runs came against them as well. At only $400 more than the minimum price on Fanduel, Vogt makes for one of the better catcher values.
First Base
Mark Teixeira, $3,500 - Texeira will likely be overlooked Monday night with a bunch of other attractive options. Teixeira finally is healthy and has been extremely productive to start the season. He has two home runs over his last three games and has scored 4.75, 6.75 and 5.25 fantasy points over his last three contests. Camden Yards plays nicely for hitters and the matchup against Wei-Yin Chen isn't overly daunting.
Second Base
Devon Travis, $2,500 - While Travis is coming off of an 0-for-4 game Sunday he still managed to score a run and has done so in four of his first six games to start the season. The rookie has consistently hit for average throughout his minor league career and had 10 home runs and 16 stolen bases last season at Double-A Erie. The matchup against Jake Odorizzi isn't ideal but the Jay boast one of the better offensive lineups and play in a hitter-friendly home ballpark.
Third Base
Chris Johnson, $2,800 - Johnson has hit the ground running to start the season going 5-for-10 at the plate including three doubles. He makes this list for Monday night due to that hot start as well as his past track record against Mat Latos. Latos struggled mightily in his first start of the season owning a 94.50 ERA and looks as if he might be working through an injury. Johnson has had his number going 9-for-21 against Latos, good for a 1.240 OPS. There are multiple reasons here to use Johnson if you're looking for a cheap option at the hot corner.
Shortstop
Erick Aybar, $3,100 - Shortstop has been a tough position to roster this season with few decent options after the elite fantasy players. The Angels/Rangers game boasts the highest over/under of the day at 8.5 and is being played at hitter-friendly Arlington Park. Aybar started the season hitting safely over the first three games and has reached base in five of his six games overall. Lastly, he has singled in his only at-bat against Ross Detwiler.
Outfield
Josh Reddick, $3,400 - Reddick made a successful return to the A's lineup Sunday afternoon going 2-for-5 which included a double. He's in a plus matchup today against Scott Feldman, a pitcher who Reddick has three home runs against in only 20 at-bats. While the price isn't ideal, Reddick should fly under the radar tonight and be a nice contrarian play in GPPs.
Chris Carter, $2,900 - Carter is off to a slow start this season and was given Sunday off to clear his head. He should be back in the lineup Monday and hit in the heart of the Astros order. Carter is one of the more dangerous power hitters in the game and is one of the few players capable of a multi-homer game. He's had past success against Scott Kazmir going 5-for-12 (.416) in a small sample size and had a .869 OPS vs. southpaws last season.
Travis Snider, $3,000 - Snider has gotten off to a nice start with his new team and smacked a three-run homer Sunday after in losing effort to the Blue Jays. Snider has reached base in every game except one and has a nice 5:5 K:BB ratio thus far. Buck Showalter has him batting fifth behind Adam Jones, one of the better places to be in a lineup. Don't be surprised if he has another long ball Monday night.
