FanDuel MLB: Saturday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Alex Wood, LOS at SDP ($8,500): Wood racked up a season-high 45 fantasy points in his first meeting with the Padres this season, but he doesn't even need to reach that mark again to provide solid value at just $8,500. The lefty has been pitching consistently well following a slow start to the season, and a San Diego offense that ranks 27th in runs per game and strikes out more than all but two other teams is unlikely to give him much trouble considering how well he's fared against some far superior offenses of late.

CATCHER

Russell Martin, TOR at MIN ($2,100): Martin has struggled in 2016, but a date with underwhelming Twins southpaw Pat Dean could be just what the affordably-priced catcher needs to turn things around. Dean has allowed 14 of 35 right-handed batters faced to reach base en route to a .402 wOBA heading into his first career start. If you're looking for cheap access to the Toronto lineup in this enticing matchup, Martin's your man.

FIRST BASE

Adrian Gonzalez, LOS at SD ($2,900): Many will overlook Gonzalez coming off an injury and playing at the spacious Petco Park, but those who trust him despite those factors will be getting an incredible deal. The former Padres first baseman knows how to hit in the ballpark he called home for five years, and it's hard to imagine his price dropping below its current $2,900 mark. Gonzalez also has a .379 career wOBA against right-handed pitching, giving him strong upside in his return to the lineup against Cesar Vargas.

SECOND BASE

DJ LeMahieu, COL at PIT ($3,200): While he doesn't get the luxury of playing in Coors Field for this one, LeMahieu still makes for a solid option against Jon Niese. He has five hits and a .917 OPS in 12 career at-bats against the southpaw, and those numbers should only continue to climb given that Niese is allowing a .391 wOBA to right-handed bats so far in 2016.

THIRD BASE

Jake Lamb, ARI at STL ($3,400): Lamb has done a terrific job out of the cleanup spot for the Diamondbacks lately, racking up 75.3 fantasy points over the last four games. He has an excellent opportunity to keep the good times rolling against Cardinals starter Mike Leake, as the young third baseman has crushed right-handed pitching all season to the tune of a .405 wOBA.

SHORTSTOP

Ketel Marte, SEA at CIN ($3,100): The switch-hitting shortstop has been better from the right side this season, and that's where he'll be batting from with left-hander John Lamb on the mound for the Reds. Marte was in the leadoff spot for Friday's series opener, and would be in excellent position to cross the plate a couple times should he find himself back there again as Lamb was rocked for seven runs in four innings his last time out.

OUTFIELD

Nelson Cruz, SEA at CIN ($4,100): Cruz's Mariners are expected to do a fair bit of scoring considering they're significant favorites in a game with an over/under of 8.5 runs, and their cleanup hitter figures to be heavily involved in that production with a lefty on the mound. The veteran has followed up last season's .459 wOBA against southpaws with a .426 wOBA mark so far this year, and Lamb isn't exactly an intimidating opponent as far as left-handed starters go.

Jose Bautista, TOR at MIN ($4,200): As was pointed out in Russell Martin's case, Twins lefty Pat Dean is a vulnerable target in his first career start. While Martin was a solid discount option with which to fill out a lineup, Bautista is the kind of guy you can lean on to carry your team. The veteran outfielder has a .382 career wOBA against left-handed pitching, and is swinging a hot bat after homering out of the leadoff spot Friday.

Michael Conforto, NYM vs. MIL ($3,400): Conforto's home run Friday gave him seven on the season, all against right-handed pitching. He has racked up a monstrous .430 wOBA in that split this season, and is a terrific option any time the opposition puts a righty on the mound. Brewers starter Zach Davies matches up terribly against Conforto based on his .446 wOBA allowed to left-handed bats in 2016, so all signs point to yet another impressive performance at the plate for the young outfielder.
