DraftKings MLB: Monday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Felix Hernandez, SEA at LAA ($9,100): King Felix hasn't quite looked like himself this season, but there is no reason to think he has abdicated the throne, as he has a 3.39 ERA and allowed just a 27 percent hard contact rate. The Angels come in with the third-lowest runs above average mark in the league against the changeup, a pitch Hernandez throws more than 27 percent of the time.

Ryan Vogelsong, PIT at SF ($4,200): Vogelsong has performed exceedingly well since rejoining the rotation, having allowed just one earned run over 12 innings with 11 strikeouts in two starts. It should be noted that those outings came against the Padres and the Braves, but Vogelsong could neutralize the Giants with his ground ball profile, as they are a bottom-half team when it comes to fly-ball rate. With no slam-dunk matchup to turn to, I will happily give the veteran a shot, as he allows us to load the lineup to our heart's content.

CATCHER

Wilson Ramos, WAS at COL ($5,200): Let's start the insanity. Ramos has brought the lumber to lefties this season, notching a .313 ISO over 80 at-bats. Meanwhile, Jorge De La Rosa holds an xFIP over 5.00 along with a .370 wOBA against righty hitters.

FIRST BASE

David Freese, PIT at SF ($3,800):Matt Moore hasn't been able to find the zone in his first two starts as a member of the Giants, walking 11 batters over 12 innings. The former top prospect has allowed a 1.4 HR/9 rate versus righties this season, which should allow Freese and his .620 slugging percentage against lefties an opportunity to put some points on the board.

SECOND BASE

Yangervis Solarte, SD at TB ($4,300): Solarte has been good against all opponents this year, but he kicks it into another gear against lefties, as evidenced by his .321/.400/.547 slash line across 53 at-bats. Drew Smyly carries a 1.5 HR/9 rate against righties, as well as a 4.50 xFIP.

THIRD BASE

Danny Valencia, OAK at TEX ($4,300):Martin Perez is a perennial blowup candidate, having allowed at last five earned runs in four of his last seven starts. His 11 percent strikeout rate should ensure comfortable trips to the plate for Valencia, who has a .431 wOBA over 90 at-bats against his opposite hand.

SHORTSTOP

Marcus Semien, OAK at TEX ($4,500): Semien's .304 ISO against left-handers this season makes him another major threat to Perez, but he could carry another advantage, as he will take his 44 percent fly ball rate up against the 25-year-old's extreme ground-ball tendencies.

OUTFIELD

Carlos Beltran, TEX vs. OAK ($5,200): Opposing starter Ross Detwiler put on a show against the Orioles last week, throwing eight scoreless innings while striking out two batters against the Orioles. We will see how the pitch-to-contact style treats Detwiller in Arlington against Beltran, who has a 1.018 OPS versus lefties over 127-at bats.

Marcel Ozuna, MIA at CIN ($3,900):Brandon Finnegan has been serving up home runs to righties with regularity this season, allowing 23 in 99 innings. Ozuna has been deceptively dominant against left-handed pitching, notching a .333 ISO in 99 at-bats.

Jayson Werth, WAS at COL ($5,400): Werth has done his best work against lefties this season, compiling a healthy .350/.426/.620 batting line with a 48 percent hard contact rate over 100 at-bats. His batted ball profile could also be a factor against De La Rosa, as he has a fly ball rate of nearly 42 percent.

Other options: Ian Desmond, TEX vs. OAK ($4,900); Adam Duvall, CIN vs. MIA ($4,900); Nelson Cruz, SEA at LAA ($4,300)
