Pitcher
Dan Straily, MIA vs ATL ($7,400): Straily had a disastrous first outing this season at Washington, finishing with -5 fantasy points. However, he should be much better this time around and has a more favorable home matchup with the Braves. It bodes well that this game opened with an over/under of eight runs and the Marlins being a -130 favorite. This suggests both the win and a quality start could be in store for Straily and, as mentioned, this is a solid matchup. Last season the Braves as a team had the fifth worst wOBA against right-handed pitching (.308) and the third lowest ISO (.137).
Catcher
Evan Gattis, HOU at SEA ($2,900): Gattis has been hot coming out of the gate, reaching base 10 of his first 23 plate appearances. The five walks are an encouraging sign and he gets the all-important matchup against a southpaw tonight. Gattis had a .366 wOBA against left-handed pitching and the Astros just saw Ariel Miranda last week. While Miranda was able to get away allowing only two earned runs over five innings, they were both home runs and his 1.60 WHIP suggests some luck was involved.
First Base
Justin Bour, MIA vs ATL ($2,700): While Bartolo Colon is a fan favorite, he is still human and not throwing as hard as he was earlier in his career. Bartolo struggled the most away from home last season (with the Mets) against lefties, giving up a .374 wOBA. Bour sported his best splits at home last season against right-handed pitching with a .356 wOBA. Therefore things line up nicely for the Marlins slugger to have a big game tonight.
Second Base
Daniel Murphy, WAS vs STL ($3,600): He's the highest priced player at the position tonight and there's good reason for that – almost every upper-tier player has some type of red flag. For example, there's a lot of RvR, LvL matchups that don't favor the hitter, while players like Jose Altuve, Matt Carpenter and Neil Walker are off to slow starts. Murphy has hit the ground running, averaging over 14 fantasy points (the equivalent of a solo home run) per game to start the season and the home matchup against Lance Lynn is decent. Lynn gave up a .350 wOBA to left-handed hitters in 2015 and probably still isn't back to that level yet.
Shortstop
Troy Tulowitzki, TOR vs MIL ($2,700): No, he's not in Coors anymore and the floor could be low here if Wily Peralta has truly turned a corner. Peralta was clocked consistently at 98 mph last start so there could be something there. That being said, this seems like too low of a price for Tulo who can still turn on that kind of fastball. Rogers Centre is still a good hitter's stadium and last season Peralta gave up a .390 wOBA away from home to right-handed hitters. This could easily be a game in which the Blue Jays put up a big number at home.
Third Base
Jake Lamb, ARI at SF ($3,400): Lamb should be recommended a lot this season given his potential and the offense of the Diamondbacks in general. He has some nice games in the book already, with performances of over 12 fantasy points four times and two of those being more than 28. Today he gets Jeff Samardzija, who allows a .331 wOBA to left-handed hitters. Jose Reyes ($2,600) is the cheaper option here if one is needed.
Outfield
Ryan Rua, TEX at LAA ($2,000): Unfortunately there's a good chance Rua only gets three plate appearances but at the minimum price he allows enough salary cap relief to add four Colorado bats to your lineup. He had a .337 wOBA against lefties last season, right in line with his career .339 mark. He'll face off against Tyler Skaggs a young pitcher that had given up a career .321 wOBA to right-handed hitters. Again, Rua's not someone to trust in cash, but if there's only $2,000 left for an outfielder…
Michael Conforto, NYM at PHI ($2,700): Conforto's .242 batting average against right-handed pitching isn't good, but luckily wOBA tells the whole truth. Last season he owned a .343 wOBA against righties and gets one today in a good hitter's park. Clay Buchholz gave up a .342 wOBA to left-handed hitters last season, making this a perfect fit for Conforto.
Gerardo Parra, COL vs SD ($3,500): This is actually a bargain price for Parra, who will be in the best hitter's park with arguably the best matchup against any starting pitcher. Jered Weaver is all kinds of terrible, giving up a .365 wOBA last season to both left and right-handed hitters. There should be an attempt tonight to get four Rockies' bats into your lineup. Parra makes the list given Weaver has been a tad worse to lefties and that he costs over $1,000 less than Nolan Arenado or Charlie Blackmon.
