PITCHER
Stephen Strasburg, WAS at ATL ($11,100): While Strasburg's strikeouts are down a touch (8.14 K/9), his groundball rate has climbed to 56.9 percent and his FIP is down to 2.44. The Braves have posted an underwhelming .308 wOBA against right-handed arms dating back to last season, too. With a career 28.9 strikeout percentage, it isn't out of the question to expect an uptick in punchouts from Strasburg going forward, either.
James Paxton, SEA at OAK ($9,600): At some point, Paxton is going to allow a run, but don't forget that his dominance dates back to late last season when he posted a 2.45 FIP over his final 11 starts. Through three 2017 outings, he's posted a 29.3 strikeout percentage and held batters to a 24.5 hard-hit percentage. The Athletics sport a .298 wOBA against southpaws dating back to last year, and they've been even worse in 2017 (.273), so the matchup checks out, too.
CATCHER
Chris Iannetta, ARI at SD ($2,700): A low-priced flier with a respectable track record against southpaws, Iannetta should draw into the lineup after Jeff Mathis started Wednesday. Iannetta sports a respectable .370 on-base percentage and .343 wOBA against lefties dating back to last season, and there is nothing scary about facing Clayton Richard.
FIRST BASE
Paul Goldschmidt, ARI at SD ($5,100): Dating back to the beginning of 2015, Goldschmidt has mashed left-handed hurlers to the tune of a 1.042 OPS, .227 ISO and .439 wOBA. He'll be chalky, but with Clayton Richard allowing eight runs and four home runs over his past two starts, Goldschmidt's in lock territory. Richard has allowed a .349 wOBA to right-handed hitters since 2015, too.
SECOND BASE
Robinson Cano, SEA at OAK ($4,400): With opposing hurler Cesar Valdez making his first start since 2010, Cano is a solid option with a strong handedness advantage against righties. The veteran second baseman owns a .266 ISO and .388 wOBA against right-handed hurlers dating back to last season.
THIRD BASE
Kyle Seager, SEA at OAK ($4,100): Still searching for his first home run of the campaign and sporting an unsustainably low .685 OPS, this could be a perfect matchup for a Seager breakout. As noted, Cesar Valdez hasn't been battle tested in years, and Seager posted a .390 wOBA against right-handed hurlers last year.
SHORTSTOP
Chris Owings, ARI at SD ($3,500): Continuing the attack on Clayton Richard, Owings is a low-priced option with a good track record against lefties. Dating back to last year, Owings sports a .350 wOBA against southpaws and also offers upside on the base paths with four stolen bases already this season. He has frequently hit second against left-handed hurlers, too.
OUTFIELD
Adam Duvall, CIN vs. BAL ($4,400):Wade Miley has struggled against right-handed hitters (.342 wOBA allowed since 2015), and Duvall has handled lefties well dating back to last season. The outfielder boasts a .262 ISO and .342 wOBA, and he's been a significant contributor in the counting stats to start 2017 with 11 runs and 12 RBI.
Brandon Moss, KC at TEX ($4,100): During the 2013 and 2014 campaigns, Moss showed excellent power against righties with a .246 ISO and .360 wOBA. Since, his numbers have dipped to .243 and .321 marks, respectively. Still, this is a soft matchup for Moss with Andrew Cashner having served up 25 long flies and a .377 wOBA to lefty bats dating back to 2015.
Adam Eaton, WAS at ATL ($4,000): Flourishing in Washington, Eaton has 14 runs, six extra-base hits, three stolen bases and a .910 OPS to start the campaign. He owns a .354 wOBA dating back to last season against righties and has been leading off with Trea Turner (hamstring) sidelined. R.A. Dickey sports a 4.98 FIP to start the campaign, too.
