DraftKings MLB: Friday Picks

DraftKings MLB: Friday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

Pitcher

Corey Kluber, CLE vs. CWS ($12,600): Kluber has had a few rough outings this season, but still owns an elite weapon in his curveball (7.2 RAA), a pitch he throws more than 22 percent of the time. The White Sox are a bottom-10 team against the pitch, which could lead to points for Kluber, as they strike out 24 percent of the time against right-handed pitching.

Brad Peacock, HOU vs. LAA ($7,900): Peacock has spent most of his time in the bullpen this season but has actually notched a higher strikeout rate as a starter, tallying a 42 percent mark over 15 innings (three starts). Peacock features three above-average pitches, with his fastball leading the charge (6.0 RAA). Meanwhile,
the Angels are a bottom-5 team against the heater this season.

Catcher

Brian McCann, HOU vs. LAA ($3,500):Matt Shoemaker has allowed a .509 slugging percentage against his opposite hand this season, as well as a hard contact rate of 37 percent. McCann has kept his own 37 percent hard contact rate against righties, while striking out just 14 percent of the time over 105 at-bats.

First Base

Matt Adams, ATL vs. NYM ($4,200):Matt Harvey has managed to improve his swinging strike rate a bit, but it still stands at just 7.5 percent over 61.1 innings. Adams has notched a .244 ISO and a 42 percent fly ball rate, the latter of which should play well against the ground-ball tendencies of Harvey.

Second Base

Daniel Murphy, WAS vs. TEX ($4,600): It's sort of remarkable that Andrew Cashner has been able to keep his head above water, as he has struck out just eight percent of the lefty batters he has faced this season, contributing to a 6.43 xFIP over 28.1 innings. Murphy has tallied a .400 wOBA against righties this season, while notching an ISO of .220 over 173 at-bats.

Third Base

Eugenio Suarez, CIN at LAD ($4,100): It's not often we see a pitcher lean on a secondary offering that doesn't get results, but that's exactly the case with Rich Hill, who has thrown his curveball 39 percent of the time despite the pitch returning a -4.3 RAA. Suarez has registered a 3.7 RAA against the bender this season, while also tallying a robust .270 ISO against left-handed pitching.

Shortstop

Enrique Hernandez, LAD vs. CIN ($3,300): Hernandez appears to have carved out his niche against lefties for the time being, as he has logged a .327 ISO and a 41 percent hard contact rate over 52 at-bats. Amir Garrett has allowed 11 home runs to righties over 39.2 innings this season, having notched just a 15 percent strikeout rate over that span.

Outfield

Marcell Ozuna, MIA at PIT ($4,500): There aren't many stats that Tyler Glasnow fans can take comfort in at the moment, as he has kept an ERA approaching 7.00, a 1.8 HR/9 rate, and a fastball that clocks in at -13.0 RAA. Ozuna has shown excellent power against same-handed pitchers, and will take a 9.5 RAA against the heater into the matchup with Glasnow.

Michael Conforto, NYM at ATL ($4,900):Julio Teheran has been absolutely shelled at SunTrust Park this season, as evidenced by his 8.80 ERA over 30 innings. Conforto has notched the fifth highest RAA against the fastball in 2017, while Teheran has kept a negative run value with the pitch.

Mookie Betts, BOS vs. DET ($4,300): Opposing starter Jordan Zimmerman's fastball has returned a -15.0 RAA this season to go along with his .543 slugging percentage against right-handed hitting. Betts' 10.2 RAA against the fastball should produce a positive outcome Friday.
