Yahoo DFS Baseball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

Tuesday's MLB slate starts at 7:05 PM Eastern time and features all 30 teams. None of the guys below are priced in the top tier at their respective positions, but all have a strong chance of matching or even surpassing their more expensive peers thanks to a combination of factors like opponent and ballpark. These are the night's top value plays...

PITCHER

Edwin Jackson, WAS at LAA ($25): This pick is not for the faint of heart, but Jackson could pay major dividends at the minimum pitcher price in this matchup. While he struggled in three relief appearances with the Orioles, Jackson pitched to a 0.44 ERA at Triple-A Syracuse after being acquired by the Nationals and placed back into a starting role. The veteran right-hander's first major league start of 2017 comes against a righty-laden Angels lineup that ranks 27th with a .701 OPS against pitchers from that side, while his 27.5 percent strikeout rate in Syracuse suggests he should rack up some extra points by missing a few bats.

Antonio Senzatela, COL vs. SD ($32): Senzatela couldn't have asked for a better time to be moved back into the rotation, as he draws a Padres team that ranks last on a per game basis in runs (3.60) and strikes out the fourth-most (9.53). The rookie also isn't averse to pitching in Coors Field, as his 4.87 ERA in 57.1 home innings is comparable to his 4.25 mark in 36 road frames. His lone previous home meeting with the Padres resulted in 25.6 fantasy points, and Senzatela could well improve his record to 10-3 by the time this one ends with Colorado's fifth-ranked offense backing him.

CATCHER

Cameron Rupp, PHI at MIA ($11): Rupp has vastly outplayed his $11 price against left-handed pitching, smashing three home runs and three doubles in just 59 at-bats en route to a .384 wOBA. Marlins starter Adam Conley is unlikely to cut into that effectiveness after allowing a wOBA over .350 to batters from both sides while posting a 7.53 ERA and 1.57 WHIP thus far this season.

FIRST BASE

Edwin Encarnacion, CLE at SF ($22): Encarnacion has started to heat up of late, belting four extra-base hits in his past seven games. Maintaining that success shouldn't be difficult with subpar southpaw Ty Blach on the mound for the Giants. Blach has allowed a .349 wOBA to right-handed hitters this season while Encarnacion's .389 mark in this split falls right in line with his career .379 rate against lefties.

SECOND BASE

Kolten Wong, STL vs. NYM ($11): Wong's recent DL stint has his price back down to $11, but that figure will quickly grow if he can maintain his .300/.389/.438 line through 50 games played. This matchup against righty Rafael Montero makes Wong even more of a steal at his current valuation, as the Mets starter has allowed a .348 wOBA to left-handed hitters en route to his ugly 5.77 ERA and 1.90 WHIP.

THIRD BASE

Jedd Gyorko, STL vs. NYM ($18): Gyorko has been money in righty-on-righty matchups, producing a .367 wOBA that slightly exceeds his .363 mark against lefties. The Cardinals' clean-up hitter figures to get some prime RBI opportunities against Montero, and Montero's .359 wOBA allowed to right-handed batters suggests Gyorko will likely cash in on those.

SHORTSTOP

Didi Gregorius, NYY at MIN ($18): Gregorius broke out of a 2-for-32 slump with the go-ahead RBI single in Saturday's 16-inning win over the Red Sox, then showed that the monkey was truly off his back by producing a home run and a double in Sunday's doubleheader. The suddenly streaking shortstop should be able to continue his hot hitting against 44-year-old Bartolo Colon, who's finally showing his age with a .371 wOBA allowed to hitters from the left side along with an ugly 8.14 ERA and 1.78 WHIP overall in 13 starts. Target Field's 1.19 park factor is actually superior to Yankee Stadium's 1.12 mark, so Gregorius will also be seeing a rare upgrade in hitting conditions for this road tilt.

OUTFIELD

A.J. Pollock, ARI at CIN ($15): Pollock might be the only Arizona hitter who has actually been more effective outside of Chase Field, as his .355 wOBA against righties is fueled by a tremendous .414 mark in 54 such plate appearances on the road. Rookie Reds starter Sal Romano has lasted just a combined eight innings in his first two outings, so Pollock should also get multiple looks against a Reds bullpen that has surrendered the third-most earned runs in the majors.

Corey Dickerson, TB at OAK ($17): When 36-year-old righty Chris Smith made his first career start against Seattle 10 days ago, the 11 batters to face him from the left side went 4-for-10 with a double, a homer and a walk. Dickerson's .375 wOBA against right-handers is better than what any of those Mariners hitters had to offer, plus his .374 wOBA in lefty-on-lefty situations shows the left fielder can hold his own if the A's choose to bring in a situational option against him later in the game.

Joc Pederson, LAD at CWS ($19): Pederson is overshadowed by fellow young left-handed hitters Corey Seager and Cody Bellinger on the Dodgers, but his .381 wOBA against righties is better than Seager's while Bellinger costs an extra $5. Batting sixth against White Sox righty Miguel Gonzalez should allow Pederson to hit with plenty of runners on base, especially given Gonzalez's .351 wOBA allowed to batters from the left side. Throw in the ballpark upgrade from Dodger Stadium (0.97) to Guaranteed Rate Field (1.03) and this becomes a can't-miss value.
